I think you will be fine with the 143 or the Berger 156, just wade in slow. For sure the Cutting Edge would be a great choice for the most velocity and no worries of terminal performance. The CEB's are very fast bullets with their low drag seal tight band.
Some things to consider and the reasons I break in barrels is this. Yes most custom barrels are indeed hand lapped. But when? Before contour and final heat treat? Or after all machine work is done? Most are lapped before final work is done. Then we go in with a reamer and chamber the barrel...
My newest 300 Terminator is to new to tell. Just getting it broken in. But all the improved Lapua's I have had in the past both 30 and 338, tuned the same as their non improved parent cases.
Interesting, Thanks for the reply. So what you have seen in your experience is the SGK and Berger is they are not opening under 100 yards and exit holes are same size as entarnce, but work well over 100 yards where they fragment and expand. Correct?
Our editor Luke Conner tested BC to 2000 yards and the drops were good using advertised BC. Then he took some deer with 230's out of a Nancy and all looked good. Landon Michaels from GWerks took an antelope with a 130 from a 6.5 and had a nice exit. I can run the 230's at 3300 plus from the...
I hear you, but I just picked up my 300 Terminator (Lapua AI) from Defensive Edge I had built. Has a 4" mag box and will feed loaded to the lands with very little bearing surface below the neck. Even with the 250 Hornady A Tips it sends at just over 3200 fps. I also reviewed a 300 RUM from...
Very interested in this. Are you saying two of them went clear through an elk and the exits were close to .338"
What was the shot placement and angle on these shots?
Thanks for any additional info.
Glad you like it. We are shipping more today. As soon as they come in to us we turn them right around.
Yes as I stated in the video they will vary in weight slightly due to the fact we are measuring fill by volume instead of weight. As bags are sewn they will vary on capacity ever so slightly...
To elaborate on this. Here is what I use. Torch Tip Cleaner
And you do not want to enlarge the hollow point. Just assure it is open back to lead. The .027" drill is what I use most.

Well, just for the record. 100% of the red meat we used in the last several years has been wild game. Last year our freezers were stocked with two elk, a moose, two antelope and I donated my deer after I had it processed as we didn't need it. I know for a fact Ryan and Tanya Avery, and many...
I have yet to ever , not even once, get one fragment to my table with Bergers or any fragmenting bullet. Even when the shot was off the mark and hit shoulder meat. I believe that is mostly myth with some piss poor meat processing added in. I can not even begin to tell you how many big game...
Mostly I have hunted with Bergers, I have used them since my wrecks with Barnes. But last years I took 4 animals with Hornady ELD's and I have been testing Cutting Edge Bullets and will be logging some terminal data with them this year as well. I truly believe Cutting Edge Bullets are simply the...
