I compared my zoleo time to my iPhone sat last weekend. Sat was maybe 10% faster over zoleo. Have been using the sat in some dark holes zero issues so far. The zoleo not getting much use as it has been so efficient.
I find it entertaining how residents act toward nonresidents. Driving in I have been flipped off and yelled at for driving a non resident rig. This little souvenir was left on my truck a few years back 🤣. To each their own just leave my stuff alone and I’m all good, I have hiked by many of them...
Hunting in the jungles is fun 🤣🤙 this bull two years ago I could see the rack coming from 90 yards but no body to shoot until 45 yards. The key in elk hunting especially the jungles is plan on a marathon. Time afield is the greatest key to success in the proper locations. You can’t kill them...
At this stage of elk hunting year 45 it is any 300 inch bull on public ground. As noted by several a 350 on public ground is a boal. I’ve only seen 4 bulls in 44 yrs that were for sure over 350 as other hunters got them and a friend has one set of there sheds. One week and counting🤙
Just the way it is some years. The cows come into estrus the same window every year within a given region. The craziness factor may not be as intense in some years, why only the elk know. Some years this last week and the week prior to rifle is when things go bananas and may be real good for the...
Arrow still in, high, bright red blood, limited penetration, and limited blood found speaks to some type of bone/shoulder hit. Something stopped the penetration and at that distance there should be a lot more without something solid being impacted. As you stated things happen so fast after the...
How far out from the shot were the drops of blood found ? Any froth to them or just bright red? Sounds like no arrow found ? Blood trailing is a slow meticulous process and not fun. Good luck
Tried it out yesterday and worked real slick with the Mrs. Will keep the zoleo for packer help as not everyone will have this option with their phone. It also was much quicker than my zoleo.
Sounds like a different elk to me. Two days later in cool weather and the opposite direction of your elk, there is a good chance that is a different elk as the smell of stench from your bull likely not to that extent. As to the bear he wins the prize would not risk that encounter. Blood trails...
If you know your critters there is no doubt when it is really a wolf, but many don’t know or are the exaggerators. I’ve seen them close and far away they are so much different than a yote.
Anything you find now should be in the same general area in 3 weeks and the bugling could be super intense that week or at least enough to get in on them.
Don’t focus on the minutia. There are so many variables that need to go right for proper execution, no need to add anything further. As noted above range items to give you yardage markers that the elk will come by. Focus on remembering your shot sequence, holding on a speck of hair, keeping the...
