The recommendation that you can camp on state land with a hunting license is incorrect. You can hunt on it though.
I seriously doubt you will have any issues on BLM as long as you aren’t parked on an oil pad.
Also, you can’t camp within 300 yards of water tanks.
I elk hunted one year in converse tennis shoes I bought from a second hand store, cotton pants I got for free, a homemade recurve, an academy store brand pack, and mostly canned food instead of freeze dried.
I lived in TX at the time. I was sleeping on the floor in my rental house because I...
I really really like my Christensen Mesa FFT 6.5 prc. It’s accurate. No recoil. Super light and well balanced. Ammo is available for the PRC now. I paid less than $1400 for it. Couldn’t be happier for a do it all rifle.
I am tired of getting wet through my rain gear and my pack soaking up a bunch of water. Last week I decided to go crazy and try to fix it. I made a huge batch of diy seam sealer and painted it on my pack and over all of my rain gear. Time will tell if it was a bad decision or not.
Their stuff has always been too high dollar for me but I assumed their rifles were really well made. Meateater had Adam on the podcast talking about how great they are and how their signature rifle is the best thing ever. Then I saw him on the show and his rifle all but jammed up after he shot a...
Back when Barnes was first getting popular my family shot a lot of animals with them. Always had long blood trails and poor expansion. We gave up on them completely.
Everyone says monos are better now.
I watched a friend make a great shot on an oryx from close range with a 7mm Hammer bullet...
That’s a fair point.
I was just thinking that anyone who says things like they would PREFER to pay $150 per youth license must be living a very different lifestyle than me.
For my kid, I just want to be able to get a couple tags and hunt around the house without a bunch of pressure. I don’t...
In NM it’s really easy to look up a game warden’s phone number to get a bear pelt tagged. In CO I can’t find any way to look up a DWM’s phone number. It’s almost like they don’t want the public to have their numbers.
For people who bear hunt CO a lot, how do you go about getting a pelt tag on a...
Well not all of us are loaded.
If you want to take a couple kids cow elk hunting and also get them bear tags just in case…thats $68 reduced vs $200 full price. That’s a bunch of money for some of us.
Add in all the application fees and other costs to take kids hunting and it starts getting...
Most of these comments are more condescending than helpful.
We don’t know if he has a scope with exposed turrets. With groups like that, there’s really no sense in shooting more than 300 yards anyway. I don’t see any issue with a 200 yard zero for this type of shooter/gun. Dudes have been...
I’ve used both and I like my M7 a lot more. The only thing I don’t like is the stupid bracket they use.
The saddle was uncomfortable for me, too hard to add or remove layers, and too hard to shoot out of because it requires a tree with less branches.
That may be true here and there but anyone who hasn’t drawn a deer or elk tag in more than 5 years doesn’t want to hunt very bad.
There’s been deer tags leftover the last 5 years. There are several elk tags that are more than 90% draw odds.
NM is almost last in every metric that states are measured by, education, economic growth, crime per capita, healthcare. The positive is that cost of living is super cheap and the hunting is great.
The last 5 years I’ve drawn:
4 elk tags
4 deer tags
1 Barbary sheep tag
1 bighorn sheep tag
I...
