I’ve not shot a ton of game with the 123 ELDm, but in those that I have it has performed similarly to other ELDMs. I agree with the 130 TMK, if it shows to be stable at your elevation or above, that would be the bullet I’d choose.
I’d also consider the 123 ELDm, it has a slightly better BC than the 120 ELDm. I load it based on the old 123 Amax load that Hornady would post on the box, I believe it was 44.5 grains of H4350. With that loading in my Tikka 6.5 Creedmoor 20” barrel it has a muzzle velocity of 2885 fps.
Creedmoor Sports has 77 TMKs in stock, I’ve purchased from them often.

I apologize, I should have added this one to the previous post. Cow elk, 6.5 Creedmoor, 140 grain Nosler Accubond, impact velocity 1900 or so fps. Dang thing just stood there and I thought I was missing and it didn’t react like it was hit, so like my Dad said, keep shooting till they go down! I...
A couple of antelope with a Tikka 6.5 x 55 shooting 143 eldx at a muzzle velocity of 2900 fps:
Impact velocity on this one was 2560 fps, hit in the low chest and it unzipped the chest cavity, no necropsy photos, sorry, full pass through, no bullet recovered
Same gun, same bullet, impact...
I’ve used both CCI 400 and 450s, without an issue with either. I prefer the 450, generally because of the thicker cup, but haven’t pierced a 400 either, in multiple Tikka .223s, but I’m loading excessively hot, either. I also haven’t had any light strikes with the 450s, with multiple lots...
I’ve primarily used a 10 x 42 binocular, both Meopta Meostar HD and Swarovski SLC 10 x 42, but a good friend uses the Meopta Meostar HD 12 x 50, and for western hunting, it is a really nice fit. Glassing off a tripod is wonderful, but can be handheld in a stable manner, as well.
My son and wife shot 2 cow elk this morning, one at 720 yards with a Tikka 6.5 Creedmoor shooting 139 Lapua Scenars 2767 fps muzzle velocity (my son) and my wife with a 22 Creedmoor shooting 88 ELDm at 3050 fps, muzzle velocity, distance 520 yards. I’ve transitioned to the 130 TMK in the 6.5...
We have had good experiences with the Powerbelt ELRs in both .45 and .40 caliber, but I have transitioned to Arrowhead 275 XLD in the .40 cal Paramount I shoot, as the ELRs did not group well. Terminally, however, the ELRs have been impressive.
Here are a few from over the past few years, most shot with CVA Paramount with an 85 grains of BH 209 by weight and bore sized Arrowhead 275 XLD bullets. The deer with the blood spatter on rock behind it was using a Powerbelt 225 ELR at an extended range. Some of these are terminal ballistic...
I have had a one Tikka bolt cerakoted as well, and as noted, it’s a bit stickier than an uncoated bolt. I also have a NULA 6.5 Creedmoor, which is precursor to and very similar to a Fieldcraft. I had the action and the bolt cerakoted by LRI and I think due to the very tight tolerances prior to...
Hello all,
I have been a long time lurker here and have learned an absolute ton! Thank you for changing the way that I hunt and practice. I figured it was time to join and contribute.
In the past 4 years, my sons and I have killed 4 mule deer does, at ranges varying from 90 to 375 yards, using...
