    Muscular Endurance for Mountain Athletes

When I did my ME stuff (steep, straight up), I always finished (w/ the same pack) with an additional 3-5 miles, mostly downhill, but tried to include some side-hilling as well. Side-hilling is definitely taxing, especially if it's all the same direction. Side-hilling is exactly what crushed...

    Muscular Endurance for Mountain Athletes

Not nearly as arduous as @Poser s' hunt, but a metric for me to consider. Last weekend I packed in a 35-ish lb pack for a three day hunt and the last day packed a 80-ish lb pack (buddy killed a cow) out ~ 6 miles (mostly downhill). The most weight I used for ME training was 45 lbs. I'm not...

Seek Outside Silverton Review in the works

It's a Stone Glacier; evidently they've changed them to a belt mounted option. These were the original ones, my buddy uses one too—super easy to get to and it's out of the way of your arms. Evidently we're the only two people that liked them mounted this way :)

Seek Outside Silverton Review in the works

Seek Outside sent me one of their new daypacks, the Silverton. I'll be using it the next month or so and post up a review of my thoughts. It's a standalone daypack, but can also be used in conjunction with their hauling frames. They list the volume at 2300 cubic inches (37 liters), but I can...

18 miles and a lot of up/down with 30-ish lbs and 6 miles with 80-ish lbs :D. Buddy shot a cow just at the end of shooting light. Got it quartered up and hauled it to our camp (a little over a mile), hung the bags in a tree, ate a late supper (replete with tenderloin appetizers) and then...

    Sheep scope tripod?

I've tried several different tripods and have also settled on an Aziak Backcountry tripod; light, but not too light. Plenty beefy enough for any 65-ish spotter. I use mine w/ a Spartan Davros head- lets me change optics (bino to spotter) quickly and have found that I can shoot off of it...

    IOS 18 is available

I hope I’m wrong, but I’m expecting satellite texting via cell phones won’t be free for very long. Sending data via satellite costs $, can’t see cell companies not wanting to recoup those costs.

4 miles (400') w/ Tiny Elvis this afternoon. Have a plan B, meeting another buddy tomorrow and will backpack into some local elk country for a few days. He has a cow B tag (it's an additional tag to your A tag that is good for a bull in this district), so that ups the odds a bit :)
