About 5-6” of fresh snow on the mountain I’m hunting, so my hopes were high. Despite good conditions, still no elk for me.
I have to say it’s easily the most folks I’ve ever seen in this area, I guess the reason I hunt midweek :D
Anywho 10 miles and a lot of climbing, combined with the 1/2...
I can only weigh in on Montana, who currently does not have any minimum caliber for big hunting—that was easy :D
I could speculate that the states that do have a minimum caliber, that not many violations are written for it. But I always advocate to follow the law.
With the advances in bullet...
Hey. My bivy is a Mountain Laurel Designs Event Soul bivy (made w/ eVent fabric on the upper and dcf on the lower). As far as waterproof bivies go, this breathes better than most, but still a stretch to being very breathable. It's pretty light at 12 oz and it does keep rain/snow /wind out...
5 miles (700') with Tiny Elvis this morning; supposed to get some snow in the local mountains this evening through tomorrow morning—going to chase wapiti; chase being the operative word :D
Oh and 1800 mile mark in the rearview!
This is a recent (week ago) trip where I decided to bivy. The bivy only saves about a 1/2 lb over my solo tent, but allows me to get into very tight spots. Just under 30 lbs w/ food & water (no spotter this trip, but with tripod).
5 miles (500') this morning with Tiny Elvis; I think he found the same rabbit's leg, but this time over a mile from where I made him drop it—thinking another dog packed it for awhile :ROFLMAO:
strength train this afternoon
5 rds, 1 minute rest between rds
deadlifts x 5 @ 70%

Thanks —think I'll stick w/ the 275/70's, it's about 32.2" I'm currently running 265/70's w/ no rubbing lock to lock on the stock suspension.
The other size I'm looking at is 255/75R17, it's just a hair over 32" as well—slightly narrower, which doesn't bother me, but only offered in C...
I've got a 2" lift that is going on soon (2nd Gen as well), any problems fitting 285's?—I was going to go 275/70/17, the 285's are a little over a 1/2" higher—worry about stuff rubbing
19 miles (3000'-ish)—snow was crunchy, wind was howling, the stock tank I was depending on for water had quit running and was froze solid, but can't complain! :D
* no elk were hurt in the making of this film
Had to watch my Grizzlies lose to UC Davis. No excuses, they got out played both sides of the ball. I predict UC Davis will go pretty deep in the FCS playoffs. They definitely have a couple of guys that will be playing on Sunday next year.
Bills improve to 8-2 after defeating the Colts...
It's a Silky with a custom (3d print) body. A guy on backpacking light.com sells them—I think for both sizes of the Pocketboy. It shaves off several ounces (the Pocektboys come w/ a metal handle), but you have to use a little care as the plastic is not as strong as the original metal bodies...
Yes. I pack a very small multi-tool that has a Phillips head; I'm a little nervous changing blades on my Tyto (having seen some bloody messes, thankfully not mine) so I'll use the little piers for that.
If you have no need for a multi-tool, a small Phillips would be just a few grams.
