    New FirstLite Foundry Jacket

It’s still packable. Obviously not as much as the regular Unc but it’s no issue to put it in your pack. On the flip side, the new Colter jacket isn’t really packable. That thing is the ultimate snowmobile/ATV/horse/standing around glassing jacket and it’s not something you’d want to pack far.

    Blind recommendation

Double Bull leads the pack for sure. I have 3 and they have held up better than any of the others I'll go over. The only thing with them is the bottom zipper always seems to pop apart pretty quick. I bought a couple Baronets a few years back and the first windy day we had tore them both up...

    FL Trace

They’re a slimmer cut for sure. And they are numerical sized instead of S, M, L like the regular corrugates. So that helps, especially through the seat I feel like they’re slimmer fitting. I’d say through the seat they are about the same as the guide lites, but the lower leg is more athletic cut...

They are more of an entrance into the thigh pockets over vents in my opinion. They do function as venting, but if you have a bunch of stuff in those pockets it’ll fall out with those vents open.

    FL Trace

I wore them last year. Used them early archery season mostly as those were the warmest temps. I thought they did well for the conditions, hip vents were nice, the fit is slim and comfortable. They are a lightweight pant, so keep in mind they probably aren’t going to be bomb proof busting brush...

    Folding hard tonneau cover recommendations

I've had the Bakflip that's a trifold and now the Bakflip that rolls up but is still fairly hard on top, it's not soft. I got the one that rolls because when hauling a sled or four wheeler I could see through my back window. Doing it again I would probably go back to a folding Bakflip one. I...

    Quilt vs Bag

I feel like if you hunt/backpack all fall, you'll want to stick with a sleeping bag. Then if you want to shave weight and bulk for the early season then you add a quilt into the mix. If you are only backpacking in the early season and you can only have 1 bag/quilt, then I would look at the temps...

    Kifaru Bedlam Designing

I'd like to see side pockets that are center zipping.. basically the Fulcrum side pockets but static. Even one side like that and they other with an open top like the Reckoning would be super sweet. IMO the pocket on the back should be just like the Sherman with some space inside. I like the...

    Kifaru Bedlam Designing

Anyone seen this yet? New pack being designed from Kifaru and they're asking for your input! Which is cool. @Bender and @Kenneth@Kifaru I'm sure will be monitoring this and answering questions and such. I'll put my input below.

MTNTOUGH+ app and On-Ramp with Jordan Budd

Super solid advice here. When I was doing the pre-season training a couple years ago I had fairly minimal equipment and didn't have a ski erg or even a rower.. in those times I would just go run the stairs in my house. I'm also with you on the stretching.. and I need to be better about that.

MTNTOUGH+ app and On-Ramp with Jordan Budd

Hey Roksliders, After a little while away from a solid workout plan, I've restarted one of the MTNTOUGH workout programs. I've previously done the post-season and pre-season workout programs from mtntough, which Matt and I reviewed a while back. Coming into this year I feel more out of...

Synthetic type boot for Alaska sheep hunt?

Doing my hunt over again I would take the Briksdal or another leather boot for the abrasion resistance. I used Salewa Raven's on my Dall hunt and absolutely shredded the sides of the boot because of the rocks. That textured material on the sides is easy for rocks to shred over time. A different...

    High R Pad

Another to check out is the Exped Ultra 5. I used it and the Nemo Tensor last year, both great options I think. I've found I like that Exped over the Big Agnes Q Core I used to run with.

New Argali Trekking Poles ***Update 1/18/23***

I have a review coming out about these soon! I used the Carbon X this last fall and really liked them. Being able to screw the poles together to make a center pole in the 4p tent was great for a little weight savings or when I forgot my center pole.. which is what really happened. Haha.

    Garage Heater

I just installed the Mr Cool 12k DIY mini split in our garage. Via direction from @Dioni A. The 12k says its good for 500 sq ft which is about right for our garage. Got it through Costco for like $1500, have probably $200 in electrical and conduit to run a line from the box out to the unit. The...
