Gosh I don't have my numbers handy at the very moment but the bullet couldn't fit more perfect. With the top of the boat tail at the neck/shoulder junction the bullet is kissing the lands. I have mine seated .025 off. I'm using redding 25-284 dies and it made it a simple 1 throw to size down...
That's how I view my hunting rifle that sees the most use. I put 400 rounds through it in 2 months and then decided to buy a 6.5 creedmoor to put rounds on instead of continue on with the 25 and burn out the barrel in another couple months.
Any real concerns with close range shots? And I get annoyed myself with the constant discussion of barrel life but this has got to be extremely short no?
I hear this all the time regarding 25s. I just don't understand. You have high and low bc options from several companies that pretty much cover everything. If your gun won't shoot 25 cal hornady 134 elds or berger 133/135 hybrids then you need a different barrel or gun. There's also lower bc...
I see your point from a practical sense, and there's a part of me that is practical and agrees and there's also a part of me that doesn't give a shit and wants to go fast lol. My beloved 25-284 is all but practical in most people's eyes but is by far my favorite hunting rifle, and I haven't had...
Berger elite hunter. I had planned on buying 134 eldms but the bergers shoot so well I haven't had desire to tinker.
Orange dot for size reference. Black was aiming point.
Fwiw my 25-284 is pushing 133s at 3020 (trued) out of a 21" barrel. I'm on the edge of pressure at 55.5 grains of h1000. I'll be backing my load off .5 grains from where it's at now.
It's just the new 308 and people are starting to see it as such. I think the general population got less excited about the creedmoor when the 6.5 prc (big brother) came out.
