Count me in for a ffp NXS 3-15x42 in as compact of a size as possible with that reticle. Think nxs 2.5-10 with a little more top end magnification. Throw the atacr turret lock on there while you're at it. My atacr is the best compromise I've found but I wouldn't complain about a better reticle...
My piece of advise is to understand your limits by practicing field shooting at home/range before heading afield. If you know you can consistently hit x sized target at a certain distance, then don't push the distance when in field. Your gut will tell you what shots you can make...listen to it...
I cannot emphasize my love for rf binos enough. I went from 12s and a rf, to rf 10s. You couldn't pay me to switch back. Your preference may be different, though I'd be surprised if that were the case.
I've used the vortex furys, leica geovid r, and meopta optika lr...of the 3, I still have...
If you're going to get rf binos in my opinion there is no reason to carry 12s. Opt for 15s or 18s since you'll have the lower end covered. I don't find a big enough difference in 10s and 12s to justify both
10s- surprisingly big benefit from use with a tripod, yet able to handheld steadily
12s- tripod is necessary but can still be handheld fairly ok. Not near as comfortable as 10s but doable.
15s and bigger- tripod only
In my opinion, 12s are a great standalone bino but rangefinding 10s combined...
Side to side rotation on sling swivel attachments is very prevalent. Arca or pic eliminates that. When I used to use a sling stud attachment I was always retightening.
I think you make a great point here. Even on a localized level, hunting was never the "cool" thing to do. It was tradition held by certain families and not by all. I think you're right about us being at or near the peak. I've already seen/heard it from the people that "kinda" care about hunting...
I had thought might be a way to generate traffic. I like that reasoning.
Fair enough. A good name drop might help achieve the long goal of scope companies prioritizing holding zero 🤔
Enjoyed the podcast.
However, I was a little disappointed with the lack of naming brands out loud for everyone to hear. I dislike when people intentionally leave things out. If a company makes a product that doesn't work they should be called on it, likewise for ones that do work.
Why are we...
