I’m impressed with the consistency and accuracy of the 190 grain Sub X. I measured the ogives when seating and they remained consistent through the lot. I’ve been reading they work on deer if used much like shooting a deer with an arrow.

I spent some time at the range yesterday with my 308 pet load 130 grain TTSX over 49 grains of TAC going 3098 FPS.
Sub MOA accuracy out of my 20" Tikka CTR with very little drop out to 300 yards. I think all my other rifles my sit out first part of rifle season.
I have a 308 pet load 130 TTSX over 49 grains of TAC 3098 FPS.
50 yard zero and its point and shoot out to 250 with a little hold at 300 yards. Light recoil and kills deer like lightning.
I was shooting this load at range yesterday and its what I will be hunting with.
Singled out issue. Rifle shoots great subsonic with a can, but shoot supers with a can, the stringing is impressive. Take the can off and shoot supers, it’s tight.
Subsonic with can
Supersonic with can
Supersonic without can
I’ve got a Traditions Outfitter G3 break action in 300 AAC.
Subsonics group nice and tight all day, but when I shoot Hornady 110 grain VMax handloads at 2350 FPS, it will group two-three shots sub MOA and the next two shots will be close together but almost 4 MOA higher at 100 yards.

I bought a lb of Leverevolution. Might as well try it with some 103 ELDX. Might pick up 150 FPS over my current load which helps with bullet drop in a hunting scenario.
If I hit 2800 FPS out of my 22” Howa with ~ 1 MOA accuracy, I’ll call it good for a hunting load.
Howa Mini 22" sporter barrel
27.5 grains of Varget 108 ELDM 2676 FPS
I can run other powders for more speed, but I get excellent accuracy, very low SDs and temp stability with Varget.
Yep I placed an order. The factory bolt knob is very small and makes cycling the bolt slightly cumbersome. If it comes in and is plastic, oh well. The Tikka oversized bolt knob is also plastic and works great.
My Tikkas are darn near precision rifles with my handloads and shooting out of my shooting houses. I always aim for the heart because it’s lower third, specific target and lethal.
With the 143 ELDX and 6.5 CM I’ve always gotten lots of blood on the ground and fast.
Check out this video. It’s in Spanish but it’s easy to understand and see what he is doing. He’s using a Spanish version of JB Weld. I bedded the recoil lug on my HMR and it tightened it up.
Have you tried bedding the stock? That might help. I bedded a Bergara HMR and it improved groupings.
Personally I’d keep it at 22” for the extra velocity. 22” barrel can get ~ 2550 FPS with 178 ELDX which makes the rifle good for long range.
