My wife and mother teamed up to give me a new Hoyt Pro-Defiant Turbo for my birthday. They bought the bow only with no accessories, thankfully to give me the opportunity to set it up just the way I want it. I have been researching rests, sights, quivers, and stabilizers. So many options, so...
Les, thanks for the article. I just got a new Pro Defiant yesterday. I went to Rokslide this morning to start doing some research on sites, and your article was on top. Perfect timing for me. I've shot Spot Hogg on my other bows and really like their product. Looks like I will be moving to...
Thanks for this clarification. Very interesting article, and great pics! If a 68" bull moose rack strapped to a pack frame doesn't get a hunter fired up, I don't know what will.
I have an adventure to plan!
That was definitely a bold move Felix1776. I admit, I have talked about making that move more than a time or two. In the end, I feel my roots just run too deep where I am at. I envy the fact that you took that leap. That takes courage! Thanks for sharing.
Looking forward to reading this one! My brother and I have been kicking around the idea of a DIY hunt in Alaska, so hopefully he shares some valuable insight. Thanks.
There are a lot of guys answering your question that are smarter than me when it comes to nutrition and fitness.
I do use MTN OPS products every day. Along with their products, I changed my diet by doing my best to eat clean and watch calories. I go to the gym every morning before work for...
Thanks Billy, I agree totally. My intent with this article was to inspire someone to pursue that primitive desire to face the unknown. With the positive feedback I've received from writing it, I have found myself inspired to do more. Funny how that works.
Hall256, thank you for your interest in this topic. To answer your fist question, I travel from Tennessee.
As far as the second question goes...In my opinion, the internet and map research gives you valuable information to determine your starting point. You can research success rate...
Hall256, I sat on the sidelines until I couldn't stand it any longer. After my first trip, my only regret is not taking these adventures sooner! Thanks
The 2017 season is off to a good start for us. My son was able to take this great bird on the youth season, and I was able to take this public land gobbler on opening day. I love this stuff, and the meat is soooo good! Who else is killing gobblers?

Both mental strength and physical strength are important. A mountain hunt can be lonely, but be confident and stay the course. Learn from your mistakes, and you'll return a better hunter than before. It looks like you have a good handle on the gear. Now you just have to go for it!!! Good luck.
A scoop of MtnOPS Ammo, a scoop of MtnOPS Magnum, spoon of peanut butter powder, a little local honey, ice, 2-cups of Carbmaster Milk.
I get up at 4:45 am 5-days a week, head to the gym, then hit this shake for breakfast (post workout whey!).
Hey Billy, thanks for the article. Living in the southeast and traveling west / northwest to hunt, I have not encountered a grizzly yet. But I've always wondered how my reaction will be when it happens. I appreciate the 5-step bullet point article with tips on how to handle the encounter.

I use about 75% of mine for hunting and fishing trips. The other 25% is family vacations, where we go hunting or fishing, lol.
