I find the Silky F180 is a fantastic saw that cuts extremely well and weighs 5.3 oz. The 7” blade is long enough to be useful on fairly large diameter trees. I always carry one on my snowmachine.
But, like what’s been mentioned, this large tooth blade is for wood, rather than skull capping. For...
I’ve used other pressure regulated stoves such as the Soto Windmaster. Any increased efficiency over my BRS/Fire Maple heat exchanger pot combo is very minimal.
Our “high elevation” isn’t really that high compared to a mountaineering objective on a 6,000 meter + peak. Cold is the real issue...
I don’t know if anyone should listen to this FNG here with only 11 posts..
JK 🤣
Welcome to the ‘Slide Allen!
If anyone doesn’t know, Allen is a wealth of knowledge and a straight killer.
@shwacker
I believe that once you have enough experience in the environments you are hunting in, that you...
Perhaps on a clean, dry action. However get the action wet and dirty, like on a true backcountry hunt, and then try and run the AnTi fast, especially with a little sideways pressure, like could be introduced from being in a field position. The bolt bind is very real in that situation.
No comparison in smoothness of the bolt on a Tikka vs a Defiance, less debris entering the chamber with a solid bolt vs a heavily fluted one and the reliability of the Tikka in field conditions. Action cuts by Unknown lighten the Tikka up several ounces and a full Nitride to protect from the...
Yes.
Tikka.
A budget custom REM 700 clone will not make you happy. My $1800 AnTi X action is going down the road in favor of a custom built on a Tikka action.
I second the Beartooth sleeve/riser. I just put one on my Fieldcraft. I used a grinding wheel to shape the foam that came with it and put in a nice negative comb.
Edit to add: It’s a tight fit. Hold onto your gun tight when installing. Dropped the gun on top of my bare foot and may have broken...
I think so. Also it keeps the action sealed up more from debris entering. My Anti X gets all kinds of crap in the chamber when I’m bushwhacking through alders.
Or you could do what I requested from them to ensure that it does run smooth, which is full nitride with action cuts, but leaving the bolt alone. No fluting.
1 moose, 2 blacktail. 90 yards to 525. Great performance on all. I have heard mixed results on other calibers of the MB's, but my limited use of the 112's is positive. You wouldn't go wrong with the 109's though.
I've backed down a bit on my load to 2920 fps with the 112 MB's out of the 18", using H4350, which is the load I killed the moose with.
I believe my friend with the 16" is in the high 2900's with the 109's and a warm load of the same powder.
My 18" is a bit under 2900 with factory 108 ELD-M's.
