Indecision paralysis which cartridge on which receiver/stock?

I’ve spun several factory T3x barrels on my 595 and they headspace and shoot just fine

Indecision paralysis which cartridge on which receiver/stock?

Midwest Gun Works has (2) 22-250 mags in stock (S5840377). I didn’t know Tikka has different SKUs for 22-250 and 308 mags for the 595 until I looked just now. I only have the 308 mags so not sure what the difference is. I haven’t tried the 595 mags Waters has, but his T3x mags have been...

Indecision paralysis which cartridge on which receiver/stock?

1-8 Factory 22-250 punched to 22CM is the fun button for sure. It’s not stainless, but J&A has a factory compact .223 barrel twisted 1-8 available. Could punch that to 22CM too

    Painless load development (mine)

For the past year I’ve been looking at ways to seriously increase my reloading output while spending as little time as possible at the bench. Going from a Chargemaster to throwing over 400 rounds/hr from the Dillon has been the change I needed. I got a used Starrett micrometer head off eBay...

    budget hunting pack under $300

I have had good experience with Arc'teryx Bora 80s. Picked one up off of Craigslist for $150 several years ago and used it to haul heavy loads before upgrading to a Stone Glacier. The Bora can take a beating, but is heavy. You can still find them on eBay or Craigslist every now and then for cheap

Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

Have been wearing several pairs of the full length bottoms for over a year and have no complaints. I’ve worn the full length with everything from low cut hiking shoes to extreme cold weather boots and cross country ski boots and the the length does not bother/irritate my skin at all that I...

Nice work! Those 88 ELD-Ms sure are something 😉

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Negative. It was made by Western Knife Company and has “L66” stamped on it. It was my dad’s old boy scout knife from back in the day that he gave to me last year. It is the only sentimental price of gear in my kit

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Barrel is from PVA but is one of their Osprey blanks - not a prefit. Barrel was then sent to smith to get chambered/threaded. .130fb and .259nk Have 400 rounds down the tube since I got it. No issues so far

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

No data on the 77gr TMKs out of the 22CM, unfortunately. All my current remaining TMKs are loaded up for my .223. 88gr ELD-Ms have been very easy to come by, however.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Didn’t measure the wound channel, but both lungs and heart were severely damaged. None of the far side shoulder meat was damaged. Bullet entrance Inside shoulder Front shoulder was completely shattered and hanging on by a thread. Undamaged far side shoulder is on the left for reference

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

    I’m getting 3050fps out of a 16.5” barrel. If your shooting suppressed, I wouldn’t go any longer…

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Gun shoots like a dream. Gets great speed out of a 16.5” barrel and is still quite handy with a suppressor. Only thing I’d change is get a lighter contour barrel. Certainly would’ve liked to try this cartridge/bullet combo out further, but I can’t complain about an 87y shot - That’s automatic...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

88gr ELD-M @ 87y. Impact velocity was ~2910fps. It was splashy to say the least. No exit, front shoulder near entrance had noticeable meat loss. Heart and lungs destroyed. He didn’t make it 20y before succumbing.

Equipment versus practice posts and Rifle practice/shooting

I’ve had good luck with Hornady 68gr and 75gr BTHP in my Tikka for this drill. As long as the ammo can group <1.5” at 100y, you should be good to go.
