    Genetic change in Bucks

Yeah I listened to that one too. But I also don't think that 100% of the time a fat doe = giant bucks.

    Which Swarovski binoculars

I have NL 12x42 and love them. You can hand hold them or set them on a tripod. Range finders are cheap enough to not sacrifice your optics.

    Questions

My approach for rifle or muzzleloader 1. Play the wind. But I do use some scent control stuff i.e. laundry soap, bar soap and deodorant. My thoughts there are I'm going to use soap and deodorant anyway, so may as well use scent control stuff. It might give me some advantage if the wind swirls...

    Which Rifle?

The .257 wthby is a sweet round and is plenty for mule deer. The 7mm isn't overkill at all, lots of folks deer hunt with 7mm's. I'd take whichever one you shoot better, if that's a push I'd go with lighter weight.

Am I stupid not to take a spotting scope on an early season high country buck hunt?

If it were me, I'd ditch the camera and take a spotter.
