I've heard that from some of WA state buddies. I wonder if they could do a width and or height restrictions like they do on moose so some of the big forks without eyeguards can get shot. I like the idea of point restrictions to let the bucks mature but have heard the 3pt+ genetics are getting...
Another thing that can help is to take a picture with your phone so when you get into position and can't figure out if it was this bush or that bush you can have a quick reference.
My approach for rifle or muzzleloader
1. Play the wind. But I do use some scent control stuff i.e. laundry soap, bar soap and deodorant. My thoughts there are I'm going to use soap and deodorant anyway, so may as well use scent control stuff. It might give me some advantage if the wind swirls...
The .257 wthby is a sweet round and is plenty for mule deer. The 7mm isn't overkill at all, lots of folks deer hunt with 7mm's. I'd take whichever one you shoot better, if that's a push I'd go with lighter weight.
