I put Mountain Tactical tikka trigger springs in two of my tikkas. Loved how the trigger felt but when doing some dry fire drills I was getting slam fires when working the the bolt hard. I tried to put additional pressure on the springs but it made no difference as the springs are just to weak...
I read once rule of thumb is 15% of rifle weight which would be 15oz on a 6lb rifle. I have found that to be fairly accurate for balance. That said ideal is a scope that works, and those don’t start until the 20oz range.
@Formidilosus can you recommend any down/synthetic jackets that are good for static 30-40f and don’t break the bank? I only get about 20-30 hunting days a year but I seem to tear up jackets through normal use. Would like a SG gruman but I can’t justify it for how often I am replacing.
I grew up hunting that exact terrain in BC and would definitely go .308 for ammo availability and recoil. You will seldom get a shot on anything outside 100 yards because, well it’s a rain forest. Even if you did decide to go on an alpine hunt you will still have plenty of reach. A stainless T3X...
