Arken: Too Good to Be True Chinese Glass?

Cheep Chinese garbage dressed up with features. I had two. One brand new had parallax knob making clicking noises like a turret. Not an uncommon issue with these scopes with a bit of googling. Sent back to Arken and they said it was hooped. I don’t think this is a product where something is...

    “Backfire” hunting challenge fail

Yikes. Aside from this guy giving himself a life ling flinch from all those shots with a light 300 WM he probably now has a mild case of TBI.

My gear/pack layout from base layers to binos

@Formidilosus does/dis the sea to summit bladder make your water taste like rubber? Have tried the dromedary and Hydrapak. Both are nasty. Only bladder I found that does not make water taste bad is platypus and those have leaked in my bag multiple times. Hate it.

    6.5 prc + staball hd

Thanks Bob! Yea I checked the load data there. What I’m really trying to gauge is if the velocity is actually there before I jump down the rabbit hole. I ran into a few guys at the range that were shooting tikka ctr with factory 147 match and only getting just north of 2800fps. That’s really...

SRS Tikka T3x 20 moa scope rail

Yes! If you would like your objective lower to the bore you will need to make up for a higher mounted scope than necessary and subsequent cheek weld height.

    6.5 prc + staball hd

Snagged a tikka 6.5 prc on holidays. Only powder I can reliably find is staball hd. Anyone have loads and expected velocity with 143 eldx?

The elk shoulder that stopped a 308

There was no core found in tact that was found. It was “flakes and mush” could have been cut out with trim so unsure.

Apologies I actually don’t know how that happened.

The elk shoulder that stopped a 308

Would expect the same result as you @Wrench ! We cut open the cavity and pulled the guts to grab heart. That bullet did not start anywhere in the torso. It is what it is. I’m not upset about it. Being objective I understand that outliers happen. It’s a small sample size, but I’m not going to...

I did not recover it. My buddy may have tossed it I can ask him.

The elk shoulder that stopped a 308

No not what happened. I responded to a post earlier that explains the shot. The bullet went about 6-8 inches on a hard quarter and stopped on the scapula. From what I have seen the core of these drops out once they are done their job which I used to think was a failure until I learned how they...

The elk shoulder that stopped a 308

Two shots to lungs broadside. The third (that was stopped and I provided photo of) was a hard quarter away at about 1 o’clock. I hedged far right to avoid the guts as I enjoy tenderloin. It was a break down shot.

The elk shoulder that stopped a 308

I don’t get the impression that these gents are getting anything out of sharing their experience. I agree with you in part. In theory if there was a velocity issue it should have penciled through. The account and evidence is what it is though. These guys are contactable if you wish to debunk...
