Actually, the Finns like to hunt..... so do the other Scandinavian countries. New Zealand likes hunting. Hunting is popular in places in Africa. Canada likes to hunt. I'm not sure that we have any special ingraining stamp compared to others. We might have some unique and better opportunities...
Make a completely functional and accurate rifle at the lowest price point possible. Trying to get someone a good rifle at a very affordable price.
I think it probably does the job.
70% PB/30% J
Skippy Creamy Natural PB, Crofters Fruit Spread (stuff is awesome)
Lots of peanut butter.... A PB&J should be trying to choke you to death.
Oh, another observation. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. This means that the energy of that bullet being propelled forward is also pushing back on you in the form of recoil with an equal amount of energy. If that bullet knocked the bear down, the recoil would have easily...
AK, don't take this personal. I'm really just discussing it.
ft-lbs of energy is a calculated measurement. It does not translate directly into killing power. The basic formula for energy is:
E=0.5*m*v^2
Square the velocity, multiply by the mass, and then take one half of that number...
Once you've gone to a bullet like that, it'll likely penetrate plenty. It's wide meplat might cause feeding issues. Definitely shoot it a bunch before you rely on it.
That's pretty bad. The only issue I've ever had with several of the guns you mentioned is when the extractor rod backed out. I tightened it up and never had an issue since. That's on a Taurus 605 that I've put a few thousand rounds through and was well used when I got it.
I've got a 642...
Having never needed to deal with a bear other than looking at it:
1. You need something that you are quite comfortable operating. You need time in it. Operating it needs to be second nature.
2. You need a round in the chamber. Last thing you need is to have to fiddle with something before you...
Just to add to this. I had a drunk come over three lanes and rear ended me and my wife on New Years many years ago. We pulled over, they faked pulling over and then took off. I didn't know what condition our vehicle was in and I wasn't putting my wife in danger. Tried calling 911 from our...
I can agree with this. The only addition I would have is: Understand your house and the tactics needed. I'm not going to look for an intruder in my house if I can help it. I will secure my loved ones and hopefully wait behind a bed with gun on door and 911 on the phone. Hopefully, LEO...
If this was at my comment, I was saying it's a bad decision, but it might be the best choice given. Shooting a firearm in self defense can be quite necessary, it doesn't make it a good thing.
Shooting someone (justifiable or not) is probably going to be a bad decision. It might be the best decision you can make, but still a bad decision.
I'm glad Cal is ok. Stuff can be replaced. Just because you can shoot someone doesn't mean you aught to.
Thanks for posting. I find it to be some great advice that will help me with my next step in the progression.
I don't have much in the way of 600 yard opportunities here. 100 yard mostly.... but that will change next year as I'm moving West. I'm so excited for the opportunities I'm going...

Seasons in the Abyss
Mostly, because it's the song that turned me on to Slayer thanks to Headbanger's Ball.
It's definitely one of the more easily accessible songs. It goes through some great dynamic changes. It has some great riffs. The chaotic solos fit the theme. Very singable with a campy...
