    Probably off doing Formidilosus things.

    6.5 Creedmoor Powder Recommendations?

Been checking everyday..... even yesterday. Bad timing for me.

    6.5 Creedmoor Powder Recommendations?

Shoots good, but it's not supposed to be as temp stable. Been using it, but I'm changing bullets and figured to change powder while I'm at it..... probably matters more now as I moved from the deep south to Colorado.

    6.5 Creedmoor Powder Recommendations?

I wish I had seen this earlier. They sold out.

    Elk .243 or 25-06

I see some of the modern shows miss and appreciate the fact that they show it, but after learning from Formidilosus I kinda figure a big part of the problem is that scopes don't hold zero. As far as this thread is concerned, Form also showed that using the right bullet, .223 will make a 2"...

    6.5 Creedmoor Powder Recommendations?

Well, since H4350 is unobtainable unless paying double on gunbroker, what good options are out there? Temp stable?

Equipment versus practice posts and Rifle practice/shooting

I missed an opportunity on a nice whitetail buck chasing a doe because I was way too slow.... in this case, I should have used my rifle instead of binoculars to examine it. It was completely safe to do so in this instance.

    Elk .243 or 25-06

If that won't kill a critter, I probably don't need to mess with it.

    7mm Rem Mag elk rifle

Part of the argument for smaller bullets is less recoil resulting in better shooting. If you can't shoot, increasing caliber/energy isn't really the answer.

    7mm Rem Mag elk rifle

You are misunderstanding my point. Maybe rewording will help. A number for Kinetic Energy does not indicate how much better one bullet will kill over another. I was not saying that Energy is not needed for a bullet to kill. That idea is nonsensical.

    7mm Rem Mag elk rifle

Nope. Not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is: "Energy does not equal ability to kill. It really isn't useful for that purpose."

    7mm Rem Mag elk rifle

Not at all gaslighting. Turn your point around though..... 12 gauge slug or 7mm mag at 20 yards, which do you think is going to do more damage? Energy doesn't tell you what the ability to kill is. If it did, 22lr would be better than a bow for killing large game, but it ain't. Energy is a...

    7mm Rem Mag elk rifle

A .22 LR can have more than double the energy of a broadhead. It probably doesn't kill as well. If you look at the formula for kinetic energy (KE=1/2*m*v^2), it squares the velocity meaning you get more energy by bumping up speed instead of mass. Thinking about the above, you can do mental...

Vortex Razor HD LHT 4.5-22x50mm Q&A

Can we stop with the useless bickering? It's just cluttering the thread up. Don't want to trust Formidilosus on his testing? Cool. Don't.

Vortex Razor HD LHT 4.5-22x50mm Q&A

Why care? It's a tool to do a job not a fashion accessory. Edit: I do like nostalgia. I'd love a Savage 99 and classic scope combo that does what my Tikka/SWFA does. Hell, check out my username. Still, I ain't got a ton of money and too many hobbies to spend it on. Just give me something...

    $4K Budget for .30-06 + Optic - Elk Rifle

I bought a Tikka T3x SS Lightweight in 6.5 CM, Sportsmatch Rings, SWFA 6X scope due advice from Formidilosus. I've had it a couple of years now. It does what Form said it would as far as I can tell. It'll put 10 rounds cold to hot in under an inch. Action is smooth. It's not heavy. It's not...
