Jack O'Connor said he never saw a big game shot a 4X scope couldn't handle, and I think he and Finn Aagaard both agreed a 2.5X scope would handle most big game shots. My primary big game rifle wears a 2.75X scope and has never failed me. Some good advice in this thread. Fast target...
I do not use rangefinders and have never used a Maven product, but recognize many on this forum prefer Maven over Vortex. I operate a small gun business and primarily sell pre-owned optics. I have sold quite a few Vortex binoculars and firmly believe you get what you pay for. The Razor HD and...
Vegas had one issue, and that was resolved in 1975? I drove one back in the day and loved it. Used it to drive to Best Products and buy Redfield scopes.
When you think about the Vortex unlimited warranty and all the low end optics (their bread and butter) they sell, you have to wonder how this will affect the economy of their business in the long run. At some point consumers will likely bear some of the cost. I always wondered how this same...
I would choose the Conquest over the Razor HD at the same price point (both are outstanding). The Razor UHD is a little more expensive, but you might like it better than the Conquest. The Vortex warranty is better than Zeiss.
I spent some time last week comparing the UHD'S to the Conquest HD's...
Another perspective might suggest you will come close to counting on one hand the number of binoculars optically superior to the UHD's. Several of those are nearly double the cost. This makes them a serious contender IMHO.
I'm amazed, but not persuaded, by the passion of the Vortex haters on this forum. As an optics dealer and enthusiast, I routinely compare optics and remain impressed by the UHD's, and I am not a Vortex dealer.
10x50 SLC's have fantastic eye relief, but like you said, they are big and heavy. Most 8x42 & 10x42 binoculars are marginal at best. I think Leica is worse than Swarovski or Zeiss. Conquest 10x42's work pretty well for me.
I use the RCBS case prep center to clean out the pockets every time, but its probably unnecessary. If you use a hand priming tool, you can sufficiently monitor the primer pocket tension.
Zeiss Conquest is a great value at the price you found and clearly superior to the Diamondbacks. If you don't want to spend that much, get some Vortex Vipers, which are an improvement over the Diamondbacks, but not as good as the Zeiss. You really get what you pay for in this business. Also...
Not sure what you mean by "alot", but I would estimate the number falls between 5-10. In my view, the UHD's are far better optically than most people allow. As an optics dealer (not Vortex), alot of high end optics run through my hands and I routinely make field comparisons out to 1800 yards...
