    Multitools

The Wingman is my favorite utility multitool. The spring-action pliers are AWESOME. Why they make pliers without that it is dumb IMO. The Wingman has all the essentials, nothing more. The scissors get used way more than you'd think. The Skeletool is a little lighter and slightly narrower...

Mystery ranch pop up 28 and tree stand

I had MR Pop up 28 and used it to carry my tree stand, but I hated the bag so much I sold it. It was too small and the opening at the top isn't very convenient for getting stuff out without dumping everything out. Structure-wise, it handles a tree stand fine, but the bag just sucks IMO. The...

OnX compass off by ~20 degrees

I'll concede you're right on all accounts while still keeping my techno. :)

OnX compass off by ~20 degrees

I've experienced the same issue in the woods and at home. Phone temp is normal. OnX's response was to tell me to calibrate my phone via Google Maps. I've experienced this with GPS devices that need initial movement for triangulation, but not my phone. OnX will be jumpy or wander about 40...

OnX compass off by ~20 degrees

True; pulling out a map and compass sounds like great fun. :) And props to people who can figure out where they are in the PNW jungle using a map when you can't see anything but forest. I do carry a compass in case my phone, InReach and Garmin watch all fail.

OnX compass off by ~20 degrees

That's an interesting thought. When I reported the issue to OnX, they sent me instructions for calibrating Google Maps. This confirmed for me that OnX is getting their bearing data from Google Maps. I have no idea how the phone determines bearings, but something in OnX software isn't...

OnX compass off by ~20 degrees

OnX pulls info from Google. Since Google works, I'm assuming the issue lies with OnX apps itself.

OnX compass off by ~20 degrees

I've noticed it be off and jumpy, but calibrating the phone compass always fixed it before. Not sure what's going on now. Seems to be the OnX app though as the phone/Google Maps are working.

OnX compass off by ~20 degrees

On my backpack strap. Same issue is occurring at my house though.

:) Wish I could say I didn't think of that.....

OnX compass off by ~20 degrees

Anyone else having issues with their OnX compass reading correctly? I noticed yesterday that OnX was pointing me too far to the right. I calibrated my phone compass several times until I got a HIGH accuracy reading, but OnX is still reading about +20 degrees. Google Maps reads North...

Gaiters Do you use them all the time?

Yes, 90% of the time. Wet or dry, doesn't matter for me. I wear short hiking boots in the summer so the gaiters keep debris out and protect my pants. In winter they protect my rain gear.

    What are you seeing?

Yeah, I'm seeing the same thing, Mike. I don't typically hunt bear, but the previous 2 seasons I saw so much bear sign I decided to hunt them this year. Unfortunately, it's been pretty bleak. Berries are scarce and scat is very minimal from what I'm seeing. I saw a little guy last week, and...

    Inreach update ?

Yes, it looks like they're separate versions. Garmin's site shows the latest SE version as 3.2. from what I found. https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=8VKhyXAh3R3VFQNYECJkS7

    Inreach update ?

I haven't had any issues. The current version is 3.80. Does your computer recognize the device? It should show up as a drive. Mine looks like this: If so, the problem lies with Garmin Express and you might try uninstalling and reinstalling Garmin Express. If your computer doesn't recognize...

Forloh Method Backpack Test and Review Complete on Page 2

I applaud you guys and all of the other companies manufacturing in the USA. It's tough to make that decision given the inherent increased costs, but you did it and deserve credit for doing so. Many American's, myself included, are willing to pay more if the quality is there and the cost is...

Forloh Method Backpack Test and Review Complete on Page 2

Interesting; I wouldn't have guessed that. Although, I'd be curious to know how many people are actually making $7.26/hr. Austin's minimum wage was $15/hr in 2018, and technically, Austin is part of Texas. :) Maybe FORLOH just really cares about Puerto Rico and they're willing to eat the...

Forloh Method Backpack Test and Review Complete on Page 2

Agree 100%. My problem with FORLOH is that they seem to want to ride mostly on the "Made in the USA bandwagon", but not produce a superior product. When they get criticism, they always fall back on 'hey, it's Made in the USA' as of that alone resolves the problem or absolves them of having to...
