New FHF FOB bino harness/my thoughts

The wing system seems like an improvement, but I'm curious if the windicator pouch/bottle can reside on the same side as the RF. It looks like the wings place the RF so close to the bino harness that it would be difficult to get the bottle in and out.

Anyone try the new KUIU Boonie?

I ordered one for all the reasons you mentioned and it went back immediately. I like a lot of Kuiu's stuff, but the hat was a big miss. I can't remember all the things I disliked, but after playing with it a few minutes it was obvious that it wasn't going to work for me. Bummed me out because...

    Sentencing in (CO) Mzl Fatality

The article addressed this; as a felon he isn't allowed to own weapons so he can't hunt with a gun. Also the judge "will recommend to Colorado Parks and Wildlife that Morosko’s hunting and fishing privileges in Colorado and all compact states be suspended for life."

Rain gear recommendations for Idaho hunt September - October

Sitka Dewpoint or Kuiu Chugach are solid, lightweight, packable options. Kuiu Yukon is probably heavier than you want, but excellent gear. Love all the pockets.

    ebay rant

Had the same thing happen on a pair of binos years ago. A BNIB set of binos suddenly got "damaged" when my winning bid was less than he wanted.

A scary day in the elk woods

A few years ago I needed to cross a large clear cut and didn't want to just stroll across so I decided to use the decoy to cover my movement. About 3/4 of the way across - BOOM. Another scared ****less moment.....I thought I was alone and it was "safe". I decided at that point to never use...

A scary day in the elk woods

I haven't seen any signs of that in this area, but I've come across hoses in a creek before in a different location. Curiosity makes a person want to "check it out", while self-preservation has a different response. Self-preservation won the battle by a wide margin. :)

A scary day in the elk woods

Orange on the decoy isn't a bad idea. I might do that.

A scary day in the elk woods

Not a bad thought, but it was <1500 ft so not applicable in this situation. The benefit of hindsight has convinced me that they weren't trying to cause harm, but wanted me to out of there.

A scary day in the elk woods

I bet you're right on the type of people they are. I didn't look at my decoy, but I didn't hear the crack of a bullet passing close so I don't think they shot at me. I think it was purely to get me out of there. Fortunately I don't get migraines. A headache is very rare for me so that one...

A scary day in the elk woods

Yes, there were no rifle seasons open at the time. Not sure what caused the headache. Fortunately I rarely get them, but that one really sucked. Agree on getting away from people, but it's tough.

Yes, definitely carry a 1st aid kit with a tourniquet. I've never needed it so far.

A scary day in the elk woods

Early Archery Elk Season - WA State - 2022 On morning of the 3rd day of archery elk, I ran into some very fresh droppings in an area I'm pretty familiar with. It was around 10 am, so after determining their direction of travel, I felt pretty sure I knew (generally) where they were going to...

    Which 10x42’s?

Agree. My 10x33 Kowa's are quite a bit bigger and heavier than my 10x30 Nikon's.

"Sell" me on your outdoors smart watch

Another happy Instinct user here. Wore G-Shocks for years and the Instinct is very similar in build - it's durable and lightweight. Bought the Instinct mainly for it's GPS capability and love being able to just glance at my watch for directions rather than having to dig my phone out. I've...

Best way to carry bow in backcountry?

It seems like this would be a good option, and it would be nice to have one piece of gear that would carry both rifle and bow, but I have a few questions: 1. For your bow, does the lower cam fit (and stay) in the bucket? 2. I assume you're carrying it with the string UP (riser DOWN), and...

Kings Camo XKG Down Jacket - anyone have experience here?

I wouldn't subject any down puffy to those conditions and expect it to survive. Throw on a hard shell over your puffy and you'd be good.
