What shirts you have tried solid colors for casual use that are soft and resistant to peeling while carrying a backpack 10-15lbs
I got the Vertx Full Guard but the tail is super long not the softest material, but wont be getting other colors because of the long tail.
Browsing the KUIU sites...
Looking for a single piece to use when is too warm for the Sitka Kelvin Aerolight.
And this type of jackets with open insulation seem like a good option.
Do you guys think the MDWi Alpha Direct is much better than the Kor Airmesh insulation? or would they be extremely similar?
MDWi - 30D...
Yes I also consider those but I wanted something with exterior chest pocket and insulated.
Some jacket have chest pocket but the pocket is not insulated.
I also tried the RAB Xenon 2 super nice jacket but the pocket is on the inside and when you place your phone the jacket kind of change it...
Forgot to update:
From all that I tried definitely liked the Sitka Kelvin Aerolite.
And on sale is a great value.
One thing Sitka don’t mention is the interior side lining is of a different fabric to ease the vapor escape.
So I guess is almost similar to the Atom LT but the Atom LT would let...
Is Nikwax the most used?
What about this one https://www.atsko.com/water-guard-extreme-12-oz-aerosol/
Or they all work about the same?
Thanks

Hello,
I got this one and absolutely like the jacket enough breathability on the sides, and extremely wind resistant all around.
I was not expecting that, as they don’t mention that on their description.
Having a different liner on the sides but only on the inside, to let heat escape easier...
Update well I ordered a few more jackets to try out.
I even ordered jacket that I was not even considering due to the lack of pit ventilation.
LL Bean Packaway Aerogel - this thing is super thin compared to the Kenai and Aktivator.
Size L - 393g - 13.8oz
You could see light by the stitching...
I have always been intrigued about the Ventus but because is a pullover I never consider it as I don’t like that style.
Went they came out with the Vario I was like yes that more on my style.
But then I remembered the Kenai for similar price have way more pockets.
How would you compare the...
The Vario was the one that made me start looking for something similar but with more features for the price.
I believe it only have 2 pockets. I like the underarm design.
I actually have their NovaPro UL as it have pit zips.
That why the Kenai then moved to the top of the list.
I was looking...
From the other two you tried the One Hoody is more my style I don’t like pullover.
I’m surprised The One is warmer than the Aktivator you would think is the other way around.
The mandatory question how much the One weight? L o XL
And how many pockets it have?
Do you recall if the underarm...
I received the Kuiu Kenai and Kuhl Aktivator
-The Kenai is way more breathable. All around.
-The Kuhl is breathable only where they have the fleece . Under the arm and some small areas by the pockets.
-The shell of the Kuhl is completely wind proof.
-The main zipper of the Kenai is way...
Then I looked at the wrong version of the Rab the one I saw says 15.8oz Medium. 100/80 gsm
The other Rab is 40gsm. Interesting. I wonder what would be an ideal temp range for this one.
Kenai is 90/60 gsm.
I’m just hesitant to get a fully enclosed jacket.
My puffy jacket have pit zip and that...
That is good to know mine should arrive next week.
Can’t wait to try it hopefully it fit me well.
Between the Kenai and the Rab did you notice a difference in bulk?
The Rab have thicker insulation but it seem to weight about the same.
But pit zip or thin insulation on the pit is something I...
I found this two reviews
https://backpackers.com/blog/product-deep-dive-kuhl-aktivator-jacket/
It seem they had it weighting at 27oz.
But now they changed to 17oz but on the question someone asked if it really weight 27oz the Editor stated: Hi Dan. The approximate weight is 17 ounces, however...
I just saw the Kuhl Activator Hoody looks super nice I dint see the weight.
Similar style to the Vario but with more pockets.
Also unrelated to your recommendation I found the OTTE LV Insulated Hooded 26oz 100g primaloft gold. Looks good but I’m looking for a jacket around 15oz.
*zap*
O this...
Yes that one seem to be one of the most popular here. Plus all the other features is what make it hard for me to choose another one the big Con is the price.
Had you use it around 20mph winds and only a shirt how did it do? If yes what was the temp.
What temp range do you usually use it, or...
Hi,
Looking for a casual versatile insulated jacket.
Not for hunting. But for all around camping, walking, coffee runs [emoji16].

Glad I was able to help.
Yep the jacket is a great choice price performance wise.
At least from initial impressions.
But I don’t see why it won’t handle great over time the material feels premium without the premium price.
I says is 100% windproof I was not able to blow air through it.
As I saw...
Hi,
I ordered and like the Decathlon Trek 100 synthetic but the person that was going to add pit zips dont feel comfortable adding them due to the fabric. So now Im looking for one with pit zips from factory.
I was considering the Kuiu Kenai as it seems pretty versatile but some posts have me...
Here are some photos of the three Forclaz 100. 2 synthetic 1 down.
For some reason, the cut of the L synthetic is tight around the waist every other area fits great in L. That is why I had to order XL.
The down in L fit is good not super loose around the waist. is actually in between the XL and...
