I’ve flown for Mt. FWP for 35 years. 10,000 hrs. Super Cub. Also flew several years with Wildlife Services for predator control. Aerial application until a few years ago. Total time around 17,000 hrs.. Don’t fly much for pleasure except to maybe go look for an elk to hunt occasionally...
Well said. The internet has eliminated filters. The nastiness is everywhere. Folks need to go back to civility or else we risk burning down our society. Healthy debate is a good thing; especially if based on valid research prior to the debate. Very little of that going on in the era we live in.
Regardless of one proficiency it must always be remembered that shooting at animals is totally different than targets. The last elk I shot at 25-30 yards dropped and spun as fast as a whitetail. Watch some slo-mo hunting shots on various animals. Archery in any form should be a close hunting...
If it has pigment I believe what you’re describing is a pictograph. A petroglyph is carved in the rock like this. Not trying to be a know it all ( I didn’t know the difference until recently) just thought it might be of interest.
Older but my most memorable. Shot him from a tree stand I hung many years ago on a pond on our ranch. Only animal I ever killed from this stand as wind was an issue; as in had to be northeast and very light (very rare in our area). I had just recovered from bacterial meningitis 2 months...
Thanks for the kind comments all. Yup it was one of those experiences that kinda imprints on ones mind. Have forgotten the details of a few of my bow kills, but that was pretty special.
I didn’t quite get the pit to the depth the specs called for when I hit a coal vein. Figured I’d better quit...
The whitetail in my bio was from a few years back. Taken with a sinew backed hickory board bow.
Took this bull from a tree stand in 2016 on my family’s ranch. Trusty TFX Black Widow.
Took this buck from a ground blind made with 1/2 of a round bale feeder and cattails from the waterhole I was set up on. I dug the pond with a farm tractor and 1/3 yard scraper under the supervision of my dad when I was in high school 50 years ago. It’s always had water in it even in the...
Retired ag pilot. Continue flying as a contractor for Mt. Fish Wildlife and Parks doing seasonal game surveys. Been doing that for 35 years or so. Grew up on a ranch/farm so did some of that too. Eastern Mt. You do what you can to make a living.
