    First Time MN Turkey Hunter

I just picked up a crow locator call, so I'm going to get out there around sunrise and sunset this weekend and see if I can get a gobble out of one.

    First Time MN Turkey Hunter

Yeah, that is helpful. I'll have to see if I can find any clear cut spots on public land around here. I haven't had any luck finding a roost spot yet, but I'll just have to keep scouting. Thanks!

    Minnesota Elk

I was listening to the meat eater podcast, and from my understanding, if you didn't start building points from the beginning, you will probably never draw a tag. For certain animals in certain states anyway. I agree with the randomness, everyone has an equal chance every season.

    Compact Savage

I did wind up getting some spacers, just haven't put them on yet. I'll have to try shooting prone first. That might change things a bit.

I saw the Canon Rebel T6, that's closer to my price range. I do like the idea of renting first though, I didn't know that was an option. That Olympus sounds nice, just a bit spendy for me right now. Thanks for your input everyone!

    Minnesota Elk

Ha ha, I'll leave them for you, for now anyway. That's pretty low numbers for tags, but it makes sense with the very low population in MN.

    Minnesota Elk

Man, that's awesome! Never would have thought there's elk up there.

    Minnesota Elk

I noticed the other day that Minnesota has an elk season. I didn't know we even had elk in this state. Has anyone here ever drawn an MN elk tag? If so, how was the hunt?

    Beginner Photography

I've been wondering, what is a decent, but still affordable camera? One that will hold up to some abuse, like rain and snow, freezing temps, crawling through the woods, paddling, etc. And once again, affordable, in case I don't like photography. I like the idea of capturing animals on film in...

    New from Minnesota

Hey everyone, I'm new to hunting. Hoping to get more into it as time goes on though. I've only started two years ago, but I'm glad I finally did. It's a very fun, rewarding and humbling experience. Plus I get to be outside in the woods! I look forward to learning, and hopefully helping out...

    First Time MN Turkey Hunter

I have never turkey hunted before, but I want to get out for the spring season. Does anyone have tips for turkey hunting in central Minnesota? Specifically the Renville, McLeod and Sibley county area? I'm not so much asking for the secret hot spots, just what kind of spots to look for, or what...

    Compact Savage

I grabbed a Savage from Cabela's one day, and didn't realize until much later that it was a compact, or youth model. It was my first rifle, and I didn't know any better. It's LOP is about 12.75", and my LOP is about 14.5", maybe a little less with a jacket on. I've looked into a new stock, but...

What's a Good Mobile Tree Stand Setup?

I had the same question as you this year. I now have a Lone Wolf Alpha II, after some research I decided this was the way to go. But I also picked up a sit drag for saddle hunting, since I already have the sticks with the stand. Now I can try both styles, for very little extra cash. DIY...

Backcountry Back pack White tail Bow Hunt

Last season was only my second season hunting, and the first on public land, but from what I saw, most people were only willing to walk about 100 yards max from the parking lot. And the biggest public wma I went to was only ~1,400 acres. So I think you'll have a good chance at seeing a lot more...

    Tree stands for crooked/angled trees

I have not had a chance to hunt out of my DIY sit drag saddle yet, but just from hanging in trees in my backyard, it seems I could probably hunt from any tree I would like. I've got lots of freedom to move around the tree, the tree doesn't have to be straight, I can use limbs as steps, and it's...
