Shooting prone

Have shot seven bucks, WY and MT. All prone off a backpack or bi-pod. Most at about 150 yards. Longest about 250 yards. Sitting was an option, but not necessary. I like the stalk and terrain usually is favorable. Stay downwind and out of site as much as possible. But goats will see you at...

Your Elk Hunting Rifle

Custom 30/338 - Schneider 25" barrel. 200 grain Partitions or A-Frames shoot in the 2's. Bull Elk, Bull Moose and Buffalo all drop in their tracks. No Joke.

Hunting bullet recommendations for .280 AI

I have a 280AI Custom. VLD's don't come into their own until 600+ yards. If you are like the rest of us mere mortals and shoot at more reasonable ranges, a 160 AB in a 280AI is like peanut butter and jelly for a one load, do everything, gun. BTW, factory specs on that rifle say 9" twist, so...

300 PRC & Vihtavuori Powder

I have a purchased a Bergara B-14 Wilderness Ridge chambered in 300 PRC. For hunting, the bullets I want to focus on is the Berger 210 VLD and Nosler ABLR 210. I have Lapua brass, the bullets, plus H1000, Rel26 but would also like to add Vihtavuori to my powder inventory to try. But...
