I've been following along and doing a DIY backpack rifle hunt in October for the first time. I've enjoyed you experiences and learned a few things through it.
I ran across a quote by Mark Huelsing (the Sole Adventure guy)...... "Fact is, you're doing something incredibly difficult...
In regards to the question about crossing a unit you don't have a tag for.... I asked this exact question to the draw units warden I was going to cross to get to a OTC unit just the other day. He told me it was fine to cross over the unit. He also said it was a good faith statement to have the...
I have a Leupold GR 20-60x80. I tried it out in the mountains this past week and it worked well. You do have to get the angle adjusted right that it attaches to the spotter and the zoom on the phone to get it right but it did work well. I have the bluetooth shudder closer but you can do the...
I picked up a Rem700 7mm mag today and started gathering loading equipment for it. The 6.5 build was going to be to damn heavy anyway to pack all over the mountains. I'm not a fan of the Mags, but I'll dedicate this to a mountain elk rifle and modify it accordingly. I have no doubt I could...
So is it legit to bring a 6.5x284 to the CO mountains to hunt elk at 600-800 yards or not?? This is what I'd been planning on but now starting to second guess. Is there anyone using this combo?
They now have the iPhone 6 with life proof case holder out. I picked one up and it works well. I just never could get into the other cases because my phone has a lifespan of a few minutes outside of a life proof.
That is also now my plan. I picked up a phoneskope and am very pleased. They now have a iPhone 6 with life proof adaptor and it works good. Also, I mentioned it in another thread but want everyone to know, With the new iPhone update (8.4), the gps now stays on while in airplane mode. So if...
I tried it last night leaving work with it in airplane mode. Took pics at intersections where I knew the location. It didn't label the pictures with a location, I assume because it needs the map to call it a name instead of a coordinate, but as soon as I turned the service back on it labeled...
After doing more research into the iphones gps I've learned some pretty exciting news. With the latest update, 8.3 I believe, the iphone's gps is now enabled in airplane mode. So, you can turn airplane mode on to turn off all cellular to conserve battery and still use the gps for map apps or...
Ok... thanks guys. Is there anyway to tell if the phone is locked on to a gps short of taking the picture and seeing if it has the geo info on it? For instance, you have the phone off to conserve battery and turn it on. When would you know it is ready to tag the picture?
How does the iPhone do with no cell service and geotagging photos? I've read that since it uses multiple ways of triangulation (cell, gps, and wifi) that using only one will not give very accurate results. Curious as to what others experiences have been.
Thanks.
I also thank you for bringing this up. Since I have done my own research and what you are talking about really opened my eyes on the lack of standardized features. I ended up with the Leupold GR Boone and Crocket. Its a discontinued model for a very heavy discount, but after speaking to...
