That's great, I have an optima V2 and I was looking for a second muzzleloader for my wife and daughter coming up. NM's new scope law made me consider a wolf for the fact that we probably wouldn't push the gun past 125 yards. not to hijack the thread but is there a drastic difference between the...
Thanks guys! I guess now i'll decide on 3 pin vs 5 pin slider. I dont think I could swing 7 pins. That sounds like a lot for me to keep track of.
what size pins are you using for the longer range?
NM Public land, 78 yards spot and stalk. miles of belly crawling, 2nd opportunity at this same buck, first chance I held too much wind and shot in front of his chest. 2nd opportunity he was feeding right before dark with a group of does and got in front of him and waited.
Just got back from a successful pronghorn archery hunt. Shooting a PSE Drive 3B XL, 60lbs, 28" Draw, Shooting a relatively light arrow, no crazy FOC. Last year I was unsuccessful based on lack of distance with a heavier arrow, insert and point with the same bow, my arch with a 5 pin sight could...
10x is fine. I appreciate the extra magnification. (all of my big game rifles have mag over 20) My main coyote rifle had a 10X and my muzzleloader had a 10X. now that scope sits on my long range 22lr. I use that same 22lr to shoot rabbits and squirrels in the 10-25 yard range. Just takes practice.
I use to shoot a 74lbs PSE with a 540gr arrow, This last year the pin gap killed me on 3 different spot and stalk antelope setups. I drew the same tag and I am working through a 420gr setup.
I looked into a trajectory calculator and was seeing an estimated 23" of drop difference between a 540gr...
Dang, so much judgement on here..
I have owned a grip of jeeps and have scratched them up and used them well. My current xj is getting fiberglass fenders and door trimming for 37s...
That said, I don't like my stuff looking "beat". I don't mind scratching them, but clean them up.
Same...
There is a lot of talk about how insane it is to buy new, but when we graduated college and bought our house, the first thing I set my goal for was new trucks and cars. My wife's Volkswagen was 8 years old and already showing age.. my truck was 17 years old with an extended cab and wasn't...
I can't get the LR's to shoot well in 3 of 4 of my rifles, so I've never been able to test them out on game. I can say 150gr accubond on a 30-06 does WORK if you don't mind losing a little BC. I have seen great success with the eld-x, berger elite hunter and the accubonds.
Bag is maybe a year old, taken on two hunts and worked well, just upgraded to a bigger bag. Excellent setup for turkey hunts, predator setups, I even thought about using it for waterfowl

I think although this conversation snowballed a bit. For the OP, he was asking about setting up a custom turret, not IF he should use a custom turret. I think 90%+ of you guys commenting that he shouldn't use a custom turret wanted the best for the OP. But if the guy has his own setup and wants...
