Make friends with someone who reloads or start reloading. For the price of those 10 boxes of ammo you could pick up a press, dies, tumbler, trimmer, reloading manual, a micrometer, and an endless supply of four letter words.
Ejector marks visible on all of the shells in your photo and primers are looking pretty maxed out. I'd drop 1.5gr-2.5gr and do a 'mini-ladder' of sorts, you're already over pressure.
The real question is: how did they shoot?
Looks like you're right on the money anywhere in the 47.5-49gr range, the difference in those groups is just likely to be shooter-related as it is powder charge.
No judgement here, I shot 300WM for two decades and love that cartridge, always will. You want to know who’s shooting a 6.5PRC and 6.5CM this season? This guy 🤣
Nothing wrong with making purposeful changes 👍
I’m pretty sure .284 bullets provides the overall highest BC and offer the best wind deflection characteristics in heavy for caliber loadings when compared to nearly anything else.
Not implying shooting 6CM is a poor decision, only recognizing you are compromising better wind deflection...
Touché. It would allow you to dim/brighten the light, however, me thinks you are correct in that it wouldn’t reduce the power draw from the battery; that would require a lower rated LED. I have a few on order to mess around with, I’ll run a multimeter on it at different resistance settings and...
If it needs to be trimmed, trim it, if it’s within spec and chambers in your rifle, load and shoot it. I measure mine after every firing, but usually end up trimming every other just to keep everything consistent. If your process is to trim every time, go with it, there’s no adverse effects.
You’ll have issues outside of warm weather with LR primers, there’s a lot of powder to burn and you don’t want to induce potential failures. I think 60-62 grains of powder is the recommended transition from LR to LRM.
Groupings won’t change, just keep an eye on the length of brass over firings. Soft brass will stretch enough after 1-3 firings you may need to trim, Hornady is one of the brands with softer materials from my experiences.
If you move somewhere your wife is happy, everything else will fall in place.
Would you rather come home from an awesome hunt and have your wife pissy because she’s bored or unhappy, or would you want to come home from that same hunt and she barely noticed you were gone because she had plenty...
Finally got out to shoot some groups and test the last two pressure loads. Temp was right at 80 when I started, ended at 86 degrees with a heat index of 93.
N565 10 round velocity average was lower than expected, I don’t think environment were a contributor despite being ~10 degrees cooler...
Arcade belt for shorts and the summertime subcompact anti-theft articulator.
Full grain Texas leather for long pants, cool weather and daily transport of the full size reloadable tickle stick 😉
That is an incredibly cool setup. For S’s & G’s you could solder in a marine-grade potentiometer (adjustable resistor) for about 2 bucks and be able to dim the light and extend battery life…I might need to do some tinkering this weekend and make one. Thanks for sharing 👍
For 6.5PRC, 140-156 bullets will work fine for either. Generally speaking there’s a lot of match bullets or delayed expansion bullets that are preferred vs bonded, but both will put animals down.
Hornady ELD-M or ELD-X, Berger Hybrid Target, Extreme Hunter, or EOL, are probably the majority of...
