Gritty Podcast Kifaru vs Stone Glacier

I doubt Steve would stoop to that level. Just like Kifaru, they make made in the USA products that sell themselves and don’t need a shill to hawk for them.

Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo vs Nemo Hornet 1p

I used the Six Moon Designs LS for my 2017 Colorado 7 day trip and it was great. Used a Tyvek sheet as a ground cover. Cleaned and stored the tent dry. I do backcountry hunts every other year, and on the first day of my 2019 trip the main seam along the ridgeline ripped and even with a patch...

    2020 First Lite

I don't know if mine is just out of spec or quality control was poor, but this happens in the middle of the jacket about the level of the chest all of the time. Doesn't happen on any other jacket I own in case you are wondering if I have a 2 digit IQ. There is excess fabric at the zipper seam...

    Poseurs and Ballers....

I don't know why I laughed so hard at this thread. A lot of it resonates, not because I hate any of these people, but just because 98% of the FAQs could be found by using the search tool and reading the other 87 threads on that same topic. 10/10 rant, would proudly do crossfit with Jesse Jaymes...

    Reliable Riflescopes

I have some high end scopes and the difference seems to be low light clarity near dusk, but honestly, Nikon Monarch and Bushnell Nitro (which is marked down seriously on Bushnell.com right now) on my deer hunting rifles are some of the most reliable/favorite optics. Lower end Vortex are also a...

    FIRSTLITE

Furnace QZ top and matching bottoms as base layer. Chama Hoody. Uncompaghre Jacket on top. I wear Under Armor Patrol pants if it is 40-50 degrees. If it is under 40 I wear Furnace top and bottoms, and then actually wear Under Armour bibs and jacket or Uncompaghre jacket depending on if I will...

    2020 First Lite

SIGH... the Uncompaghre 2.0 still does not have a lined main zipper (despite being 3 oz heavier), so it will continue to dig its zipper teeth deep into the fabric every time you put it on in the dark. What a missed opportunity to make this jacket more bombproof.

    Donaldson Creek Outfitters-Cadiz, Ky

My family has land one county east in Christian County, KY. One of my favorite places to hunt deer in all of the South and Midwest. Any week from now until December offers great opportunities.

Thought and reviews on Kifaru Shape Charge for hunting whitetails.

Aron Snyder always suggests the Shape Charge for anyone who asks him what pack to use for whitetail when he does his Instagram Q&As.

Do I buy an elk tag too?

Dude, we talked about this... it is just money! You will turn you rifle on yourself if you have a bull in range and no tag. Sincerely, Your Hunting Buddy

Favorite foods on your elk hunt

Like many, I portion all of my food by meal and by day using sandwich bags contained in a gallon ziplock bag. I mix in a little variety within each day, but I truly believe having everything pre-packaged beforehand expedites the morning routine and helps counteract the "decision fatigue" that...

    Public Land Missouri Whitetail

Lifelong Missourian. I have hunted from the Arkansas line to the Iowa line and from St. Louis to Kansas City where I live now. Missouri is a great state in terms of public opportunities in either state owned/managed "Conservation Areas" or National Forest like the Mark Twain National Forest...

    Top 3?

To echo earlier comments: 1. Quality/durability. I will take a weight penalty on materials to not have to make this purchase again in 6-12 months after an active season. I will even pay 20-30% more to not be in the market every other year if you have superlative quality. 2. Versatile Sizing...

Backcountry Whitetail Hunting in the Midwest

You aren't wrong at all about this!. Get a big enough boat and multiple hang-on stands and you are set. A game-cart or a plastic sled is really helpful for getting deer back to the boat. Feel free to PM me for some tips as I have moved out of this area, but have a lot of local knowledge I am...

Backcountry Whitetail Hunting in the Midwest

^ I have pretty much used this method on every Mid-Missouri piece of public ground over the last 10 years with lots of success. Word to the wise, don’t try to cross even a side chute of the Missouri River in a canoe when there is ice, even if it is your favorite island.
