I'll echo what others have said on this thread. I took that 5x5 on my first DIY archery hunt in an area that on the topo didn't look all that bad but the first 250 yards up were killer at about a 35% grade, then uphill for another 1.5.
If I had e-scouted that area I wouldn't have hunted it as...
I used to duck and goose hunt in CA and we knew that anytime past mid October you ran the risk of snow and freeze ups hitting. Glad to know it shouldn't last long. I do plan on having a weather feed while backpacking and camping. Never know when things turn ugly in a hurry. Thanks for the info.
I bought a Next Grill vertical smoker. I will do 150 - 500 and has lots of room. Home Depot has or did have an exclusive on them. It has some hang ups like the pellets not feeding even when you have a good supply in the hopper. I think the hopper needs to have steeper sides. It does a good job...
I had a Green Mountain and did the same thing, replace parts. I'm not knocking them as mine was free but after replacing the auger which froze up I still had issues. IDK. Just my experience.
A buddy of mine who hikes his butt off wears La Sportativa. The post above might be worth looking into. My foot is wider than most of their boots so I'm out. I just ordered a pair of Lowa's for this seasons elk backpack trip. Good luck!
Well, nothing shockingly new on this thread based on my readings from other forums. I did manage to get a tag for 39 this year. I'll wear lots of orange, lol. Planning on a bit of backpacking in and camping solo. I know that won't mean I'm alone by any stretch but hopefully cut down on idiots...
I just saw those yesterday at Costco and was thinking that they might be good to pack. I'm prepping for a Idaho backpack hunt right now. Thanks for posting.
