I’ve shot a lot of deer with the 115gr 25 cal partitions and 117 Interlocks (Hornady) and have had zero issues. I can’t see the 100 grainers being any different. That’s the route I would go.
PS I built a 25-45 on a gas platform and that thing is sweet. Very similar to your 25-223.
Makes sense all. I’m not seeing any pressure with my initial loads so guess I’ll keep an eye on them. Sure wish I could load them longer than a factory mag but don’t want to jump on the Water bandwagon just yet.
Guys that are running cci 450s….
Traditionally the 223 hasn’t needed a mag primer so I’m curious as to the justification there or if it’s just because I want to? Or is it because you hunt in freezing temps?
Just curious.
I almost bought from Gman over the weekend but having never heard of them decided to do a little research. Saw where people stated they were charged anywhere from 60$ to 130$ for shipping of ammo orders. Couldn’t close that page out fast enough.
It is believed that they are Vmax. When they ship it says vmax on the receipt. The vmax it still a decent hunting bullet it just wont penetrate as deep as the eldms i believe.
Based on experience posted by other hunters the 69 seems to work decently well just not to the extent of the 77. Would be ideal for paper/metal/yotes IMO.
Well if we go by posted mostly anecdotal threads about failures, that range from bowels to failure to fires, maybe we should go back to throwing rocks. . .
OP take the rifle you have the most experience/confidence in and make your shot count.
Nice work on the bedding OP. I can say that my first attempt at bedding a rifle, which was my M77, did not look that good!
If you really like the 308 in that platform, you could always build a second rifle in 6mm. I agree every safe should have a 308 but the 6mm are just so much fun to shoot...
