Great points, I’d say keep doing whatever process you have if works for you! For some reason people feel they need to editorialize other people practices just for the sake of it.
I’ll be following and see what kind of velocity you’ll be getting out of your 25 SAUM. I have a 25 SST and I like it but mine it’s way slower than the SAUM.
Now I’m gonna focus on that 6 SAUM, have a pile of Berger 108s , hopefully it’ll like them.
Best part, you can get ADG brass, pretty much ready to load. And Unknown munitions, as well as other shops, load for it should you don’t want to reload.
As khuber84 said, 6.5 SAUM is amazing, I run mine with 156s at 3000 fps with Retumbo out of a 22-inch barrel. i can go hotter but it shoots so well that I don't see the need.
I use a 6.5 PRC die without the expander, and neck it down in two steps, first use a .284 bushing followed by a .270ish bushing, afterwards run a mandrel to set NT. Some people do it in one step.
6 UM sounds like a great cartridge, I even bought a reamer from JGS and sold it shortly afterwards. Fire forming with component cost and availability wasn’t ideal last year. I am about to build a 6 PRC, Lapua brass is available and easy to neck down,. I’m throating mine for 108s, only waiting...
I just went though this with a 22
CM, found pressure at 41 gr H4350 in my barrel, started at 35 gr. Afterwards, I switched to H4831SC. My rifle liked better
At close range, 200 and in for me, my experience is to stay of the shoulder with 215s, I go for behind the shoulder and usually no tracking needed. It’s a heavy bullet and hits like a freight train on the receiving end.
I’ve tried the Bix and Andy Dakota and didn’t care for it much. Not sure how many triggers they have, I’m sure they have better triggers. I am slowly switching everything to TT diamonds now.
