    Beginning bear hunt

The majority of Idaho's units have bears. Probably stay away from the deserty units and you'll be fine. Spring hunts are fun.

What do you take to eat for a day hunt?

i am a fan of the starkist tuna pouches, beef sticks, paydays (the do not melt when its hot). I like taking a wrap over sandwich as they are less prone to getting smashed.

    Rattling/Calling Idaho Whitetail?

Depends on who you ask. Overall, I would say the majority point to the week of Thanksgiving as being the peak rut. IMO there will be rut behavior occuring anytime after the 10th till the end of the season. We planned our hunt week for the final days of the season this year.

    Best MRE?

I have eaten a few of the readywise meals that I got for around $5 a meal and am not super impressed. Mtn house, peak and backpackers pantry taste much better but at over twice the price I don't mind eating the ready wise while in the Backcountry.

    Rattling/Calling Idaho Whitetail?

Thinking I want to try rattling or calling during the rut this November. Seems like it may be effective as not too many people use calls around here. Anybody had any luck doing so in North Idaho or surrounding areas? Are the basics the same as what the guys back east do?

How many days a year do you hunt?

Depends on whether I fill my tags early on or not. This year I am hunting Idaho whitetail locally which has about a 50 day season through the end of Nov. Along with other hunts I'm on track for 50+ days. Went out for the first time yesterday and had a respectable 3 point dead to rights at...

    Crispi vs. Zamberlan

Can't speak on those specific boots but I have worn both Crispi and Zamberlan boots. I tried the Zamberlan Saguaro 966 this year and thought they were a solid boot. unfortunately they did not like my feet. after a while my feet would start to cramp up and the front half of my foot felt crammed...

    Location Bugling

Pretty new to the archery elk thing so this probably a dumb question but... when you stop in a "good place" to make location calls, how many cow calls and/or location bugles are you doing? Is it simply one Bugle and done or are you doing a few cow calls followed by a couple bugles. I don't want...
