    Images: Hunting with KRG Bravo

I thought the contrast was funny, its a very nice looking rifle. Do you shoot NRL hunter with it? I'm guessing its a pretty heavy setup, too light for PRS so must barely be under 16lb?

    Whats the best of Vortex?

Vortex has a lot of models in a lot of price ranges. Their lower end stuff is kinda garbage, the HST line was not bad when it first came out but is pretty lacking now, Anything above the HST is ok IMO and worth considering. I really like the PST Gen 2 scopes and some of the PST Gen 1 models...

    Tikka/KRG Bravo Question

I like the Bravo chassis but it is definitely rear heavy. Not so much that it’s unwieldy but the rifles balance point will likely end up right on the magazine.

Love the carbon fibre barrel and 3lb Razor combo…. Nice looking rifle though. Is that the 3-18 Razor?

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

I understand what you/these drop tests are saying. I think you are missing the point I’m trying to make. No point derailing this thread any further though.

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

I didn't miss that point, its just I find the drop tests entirely believable but the loss of zero from a mere road trip not so much. In theory doing a long term road trip with my rifles/scopes should be fairly easy to conduct. It'd also be less easy to write off from skeptics. It's easy for...

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

Pretty much the only online forum I frequent these days is Snipershide, not really sure that counts as sheltered or not... Anyway, if I end up devising a test and doing so I'll be sure to report back.

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

Maybe I don't hang around with enough funds, but I can’t say I've ever thought about re-checking zero after traveling. Admittedly since I've been doing competitive shooting for a good 6 years now I tend to not bother conversing with fudds anymore as it does my head in.

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

I appreciate drop tests are easy to do. Its this "road test" that is the most surprising to me, and the hardest to replicate without driving down forestry roads daily.

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

Based on that video it kind of is the equivalent of the rifle just laying on the back seat, the rifle is getting shaken and bumped around a bit but hardly being abused. Which again I find incredible how little it takes to shift the zero on some of these scopes. I'm trying to think of ways I can...

    Arken EPL-4 4-16x44mm Q&A

Just to confirm; a bunch of the scopes you do these evaluations on loose zero from driving on paved roads? This is sitting on the back seat, where you would imagine there is a reason amount of padding. It’s not like the rifle has been chicken in the back and is rolling around with all your...

    Low power binos

I've got the Kowa 6.5 BDIIs and think they are excellent. Used them for bird and animal spotting and the lower magnification and wide FOV makes them excellent to use at close distances. The are really small and compact with makes them easy to carry in a jacket pocket and they are very...

March durability? Zero retention? How bad is that eyebox?

Its suprising that the LRHS reticle did a donut right ( sectioned so it didn't obsurce the main stadia) but every other donut since hasn't followed suit. Having the first windage marks not starting until 2mil is incredibly stupid.

Scope Choice for Long Action Rifle

The non-ultra short S&B 3-20x50 would be worth looking into, not sure what MOA options are availabLe though. The Burris XTR3i 3.3-18x50 isn’t super compact so could also be worth a look. There is also a new Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 that is meant to be out in the next few months, it looks like it...

Viper HSLR and HST Still Competitive?

I had an HST 4-16x44 a few years back, in it's time it was a good scope for the money but there are much better scopes on the market now. Personally I wouldn't want an HST these days. The PST Gen 2 and Strike Eagle scopes have considerably better glass than the HST but are a bit heavier, if...

    Are diesel engines overrated?

In my experience diesel all the way for towing/work, either or if not. Diesel usually will get considerably better fuel consumption regardless when comparing similar power/torque, and will give a better torque. When it comes to towing diesel fuel consumption is dramatically better, the fuel...

    Optics Trade

I bought some Kowa binoculars from them a few months ago, got sent a promo code for free shipping which really sweetened the deal. Shipping was very quick and had great communication. Would definitely buy from them again.

    Scope for a .17 HMR

Something in the 2-16 range is about perfect. I had a Vortex PST 2.5-10x32 on mine for a while and liked it a lot, 10x was more than enough for small game out to 150yards. The Leupold VX5hd 3-15x44 is a pretty nice scope and worth considering if you like SFP and MOA.

    8x vs 10x

I've recently bought a pair of Kowa 6.5x32 BDIIs and they are rather excellent. For hunting within 200yards I wouldn't go for 10x, 8x maximum and strongly consider less. I have a pair of Althon Cronus 10x42s which have quite a wide FOV for a 10x and find them annoying to use inside of 300yards...
