Now I’m paranoid… I just sent a decent chunk of change to buy a scope off a guy…
I’ve been buying and selling online in a different gun forum for 20 years and luckily have been burned I think twice.
I ask for photos of username with the item and look at a person’s feedback. Otherwise, I...
How short of a barrel? I have an early 2000’s win 70 coyote in 300WSM thats been collecting dust for 20 years. I was thinking about cutting it to 18”… I was thinking of 16” but I don’t think I have a can that is rated for that short.
That’s what I instantly thought too, no need for a 25-284, just do a fast twist 25-06 and call it a day…. Everytime I feel like I have the next build figured out, a new variable pops up…
I wonder how a 25-06AI would perform out of a 18” barrel…
Well that is something. Hmm. I would like to learn more details, like would short mag type cases feed from the magnum mag, or is it too long for those.
I simply don’t like 90 degree bolt throw. I know not all 700 type actions are but still…
I also don’t like AICS mags or BDL, I haven’t handled a rifle with the former that don’t rattle.
Tikka’s are the easy button for me. Smooth and simple.
“Reasonably” is subjective. I would hold it to your whatever standards you have for your hunting bolt gun. An AR can be a 1 moa gun pretty easily. Just don’t feed it junk and expect miracles, like any rifle.
This is also true. The brownels lapping tool is good to use. Takes one minute of time usually to clean up the receiver face.
You can technically bed the barrel extension with red locktite or the like, or use stainless shim stock, but unless you are hand loading to the extreme, you won’t notice...
From a pure technical standpoint, no.
However, side chargers typically have a more open receiver which could allow more crap into the action. A conventional rear charger with dust cover is much more sealed. With a nice charging handle with modern latch design, I don’t see any need for a side...
He’s exactly right.
That’s it for AR’s.
I have never had a PSA barrel shoot well. I have replaced easily a dozen on people’s rifles because they are cheap for a reason… they suck.
I’m new to this forum but don’t understand how so many of you don’t handload. It’s easy and not expensive to get going with a single stage press.
Questions like: “ is x cartridge going away” wouldn’t be such an issue. Hand loading is the only way to actually shoot a lot unless you have an...
My buddy has a tikka 25-06. We are going to move forward with chopping it 18” for his 7.5” can. The factory barrel is 22”. So even at 30 fps per inch we are looking at 120 fps loss. Then add 30 fps for freebore boost we are at a delta of 90. Big whoop.
I actually gained velocity with my exact...
I did…. And it shoots great. I have two kills with it in its old configuration and am taking it to CO this year for cow elk and bear. I will be developing a load around the 178 ELDM
