I have way too many guns from my younger years. As I got older, quality over quantity became more apparent. It’s hard to sell used rifles unless it’s discounted so much it becomes a major loss. The whole “guns hold their value” thing is BS; like everything, a used gun is only worth what someone...
I have only handled both, not shot. I was skeptical about the 307, but it actually felt very nice and smooth. I was looking to buy a Waypoint but there were just too many bad reports of feeding issues online. I think I’m going to move forward with a 307 receiver and barrel it.
I just did some pressure/velocity testing with the 100gr Hornady Interlock. I forgot I had a few boxes of those… and I’m impressed. Using Leverevolution, I hit 2840fps before velocity starting to drop with increased charges, so that’s my max load. Pressures looked fine, which indicates this...
I don’t get offended.
Out of the 100’s the Pro Hunter is most accurate as I mentioned in post 1. Also mentioned in post 1, is all the 100’s listed in that post shoot with acceptable accuracy (under 1.7 moa at 100, 5 shot groups).
The most accurate loads to date are with a 75gr Vmax and 85gr...
Did you recover the elk? I’m curious if you saw a lack of expansion.
I think a 243 with a short barrel or shot at a little distance would be a good analog for evaluating these bullet types.
I forgot I also have some Hornady Interlock 100 gr.
There is also of course the 87gr bullets: Hot...
Thanks. That’s good information… info on 250 Savage is scarce these days. I did this Wildcat because I had a ton of 6.8 components and 25 cal bullets from a 25-223 AR project, so I just put them together… my 12.5” 6.8 is what I killed my last bull and couse with using 120gr MKZ bullets. Since it...
They are too long for the AR mag at 2.30 COAL
I could either A) make a windowed mag to gain a tiny amount of usable COAL or B) Chop off the tips… which would work and I would think would not impact the bullets ability to expand, but I can’t say for sure and am therefore apprehensive of doing...
Their new High Country looks good on paper. 243 with a 1:7.5 twist. I would like to know what the max COAL for their magazine is. I would personally chop that barrel down to 16.5” and put a can on it…
