FYI, have a Kin degree, post-graduate education and work in healthcare so if you want to talk shop we can talk shop. I can pull numerous papers that will contradict each other so I'm not going to go down that rabbit hole. Remember the days when eggs were unhealthy? Or how about "enriched"...

    Body Fat %

I didn't say these books referenced BF%, nor did I say I even thought BF% was something the OP should focus on. What I did say was that those men were lean and wiry as sh*t and if you read about what they did you would be amazed what these guys were capable of with "dangerous" BF%'s as you put...

Warren and PA-50, with all due respect guys these points are way off the mark. Yes, for females single digit BF% can be problematic but unless I missed something Brock is not a female. And single digit BF in no way whatsoever is "dangerous". Read any book about the early explorers, trappers...

    Reps and Strength/Power training

Jmez, I agree with a lot of what you've said here but I could not disagree more with this thread overthinking it. As Climber noted some people take the physical training aspect of hunting very seriously, it doesn't mean everyone has to but it also does not mean these guys are overthinking it...

    Reps and Strength/Power training

That's a great point about mind over matter 5milesback and I totally agree but there IS a point when the body simply shuts down if pushed too hard. A good friend of mine proved your mind over matter point the day we nailed a monster bull a long ways from camp and managed to handle the pack out...

    Reps and Strength/Power training

No you do not need to be "super human" to succeed in the mountains as a hunter at all 5milesback but I disagree with using your experience of only a couple of hours of working out per week being adequate for the newbie, especially given your previous "training career". There is a big difference...

    Reps and Strength/Power training

For those that do not have access to trails/hills/mountains this is simple and excellent advice.

    Reps and Strength/Power training

Some great posts here, interesting topic for sure. The key for anyone, across any sport or activity is power/weight ratio but that ratio must be tailored to the task and therefore addressed through specificity of training. A powerlifter's power/weight ratio and therefore training program will...

Single best/most important lift for Mountain Hunting training?

There is no debate. If you only do one "lift" the rest of your life that will not only prepare you for the demands of hunting but anything else the world can throw at you it is the TURKISH GET-UP. One lift that literally targets everything you need to function as a bad ass human being. You...
