In general, for an elk arrow, it seems to me like you are better off with additional weight inside the arrow then you are with a heavier broadhead. For example, running a 100g broadhead with a 25gr weight in the back of your insert would seem to have better dynamic force on the arrow when shot...
Love mine. Been through a couple pairs over the years. I have string ankles though and am not a “big” guy.
Never had issues hiking with multi day packs in the BC
I recently spent some time shooting this bow and thought pretty highly of it. If you are a cable stop fan and a bit softer back wall, this would be a really good choice.
I love them and am buying more. With that outsert, it stiffens up the arrow a good bit. 65-70lbs BE says 350 and 70-75 they say 300. I shoot a 70lb bow, so I went with the 350s for that arrow length since it is actually more like a shorter arrow.
I have a dozen Deep Impact arrows cut to 27", fletched from factory with the SS FOCOS Black Eagle Outsert system, .001 straightness, 350 spine. 6 of the arrows are brand new, 6 have been shot half a dozen times. Arrows came out at 477g with a 100g tip and are really impressive. Super hard...
Hello, I am looking to purchase one or two 100g Iron Will Broadheads to see if they will tune in my bow prior to investing in half a dozen. I would prefer the s100s, but will be fine with v100s for this purpose.
They do not need to be sharp or in new condition, just still straight, etc. Will...
Seems like it matters less and less today. I just built new arrows and was going to switch to 125s for more weight (my target weight for an elk arrow is 475-500). I went with the BE SS FOCOS system and would of been above 500 with a 125.
S&S is having a $20 off sale on the tight spot. I have had mine for almost a decade of BC elk hunting and it is still going strong. Good investment and no one has come out with anything better. Those quivilizers are getting popular as well, but not really my thing.
Good article Rob. Easiest description of adjusting 3rd Axis I have seen. I recently bought a dovetail mount from Rob for a Black Gold customized sight I bought from S&S 8 years ago. Same great service as always.
The dovetail on my windage bar was a little out of spec and wouldn't fit the new...
The fact of the matter is, CO poops on its resident hunters more than any western state. It is a dumping ground for those that don't get tags elsewhere. As mentioned above about the 16% growth of NR hunters...as it gets harder and harder to get elk tags in other states, the amount of NR...
