I have a like-new Selway 60 from Mystery Ranch for sale. It is the perfect size for long day hunts, weekend hunts, or lighter multi-day hunts. The pack also has the integrated load shelf for hauling out heavy loads with ease.
I have adjusted the straps to fit me and filled it full of gear to...
I guess I’ve never measured my current arrows. That helps if they’re shorter than my draw. I’ve just been doing a lot of reading on research done by Ed Ashby and some other folks about penetration and FOC. I figure I’d rather have too much penetration than not enough.
I draw 30.5 inches. I figure 31 is a good estimate for what the arrow length will be. Not Cape Buffalo this year but I figured that would be a good setup for elk. I’m just trying to maximize my FOC for better penetration than I’ve had before.
As the title says, I’m trying to decide whether to order 250 or 200 spine arrows. I draw 74# and shoot a 31” arrow. I’m planning on putting a 200 grain broadhead on an insert that is 60-100 grains.
So I guess the consensus is that I should stick with 70# limbs?
When I was shooting the RX4 in the shop I shot it at 70 and thought it was easy enough so I should turn it up to 80 if I am going to be shooting elk or bear with it since I currently shoot 70 for whitetails. I guess if thats not...
Thanks for the replies.
I'm not 100% set on the 80# limbs but I'm a big guy (6'3 270#) and I lift weights a lot so I figured if most guys shoot 70# I can step up to 80. Won't that benefit me when making longer shots?
Hi guys,
I've always bowhunted here at home in Iowa so I never needed anything more than a cheap bow with a 3 pin sight. I'm getting a new bow and looking to get something that will work out west on an elk hunt in the future. I want to get it setup now so I can hunt whitetails with it this year...
I too struck out. I looked at the leftover tags. What is the difference between hunt code 1 and 2? Say 23-1 or 23-2. The latter supposedly has over 1000 leftover tags?
I need a new sleeping bag for backpacking and would like it to be in the 10-20 degree range.
I found the Marmot Fulcrum on sale for $175 which is about the max I want to spend on a bag. It seems worth it if it is a nice bag that will last me a long time though. Does anyone have experience with...
I’m with Gypsy. I have found that oftentimes the differences in the performance of different bullets isn’t as much as I make it out to be. The 200 grain Bergers are still great bullets.
Alternatively, I wouldn’t worry too much about the length protruding into the case. I haven’t had issues...
Doesn’t that seem unnecessary though? I’m not shooting any competitions, just trying to kill animals. If the vitals on even the smallest animals are 8” I feel like moa should be enough.
On another note, how do the Bergers perform in an animal? I’ve heard wonderful things about how they shoot...
