I've only taken mine out to the range 3 or 4 times. The only issue I've had is noticing that the recharge rate (time between shots) was a tad shorter than my Caldwell Chronograph. So it missed a couple of shots when I was testing some AR loads. But I keep about 5 seconds between shots I haven't...
It depends on what your doing in the field. Are you just gutting in the field and then skinning at the shop? Are you quartering and de-boning in the field? Are you just doing a deer? Or do you have an elk down?
I have the Steep Country and this is one of my go-to knives. A "traditional"...
I carry two knives.
I have this replaceable blade tyto which I really use for about 90% of my field dressing. The only think I don't use it for is the cut at the base of the neck to pop the head off. I can typically do a full elk with a single bade if I'm paying attention to what I'm doing. I...
Thats awesome!!
My little guy has been out with me since he was in a stroller as well! Lol. There is a playground about a block as well, so when we're done shooting I let him run around the playground a bit them he sleep on the way home.
Congrats on getting your goat. Step 1 would be to pull that hide off pretty quick after you fill your tag.
Their hides are thick and built to keep them warm. If you can get that off and the meat cooling quickly it'll help a ton in the flavor of the meat.
I actually have a cooler with ice in my...
I would also mention that I have a family membership to a local archary club, so typically when I shoot there, there is no one on the target range. And it's very family friendly. They have a youth shoot every month, including a course for the Littles.
Good luck! I've gotten into a few birds here and there, but haven't sealed the deal yet. Unfortunately I don't have an open weekend until late May. Hopefully I can find them...have even had time to really scout yet.
Hahaha. I do shoot with him in my pack. He will sometimes kick me as I'm shooting and I just think of Joel Turner trying to distrace me...not that I've ever done his course.
More or less, he'd be shooting the foam nerf arrows in the back yard until he can stay still and take direction.
The Thompson Center Encore was a great rifle for childern. I grew up with this rifle just getting different barrels as I got older. Starting out with the .243, progressing to .308 & .30-06, then .300WM.
I don't believe T/C still has this in current production, but I'm sure you can find them...
My kiddo is only 14 months, but I'm thinking of getting him a Nerf bow for when he goes to the archery range with me (when he's a tad bit older of course). Anyone think 2 years old is too young?
Post semi in jest 😀
