I have a 20 degree EE. I got it extra wide and love it. I paired it with an Xtherm pad and a zenbivy fast sheet- there is another thread about this. Best sleep system I have found for the backcountry in my 55 years, apart from camper/ truck camping.
1cm loops of 2mm cord attached to a quilt with 2" rounds of tenacious tape, stuck to the quilt at 22cm intervals, starting at 35mm from the top of a quilt, works awesome! (You need 2mm cord to snap into the Zenbivy fast sheet.) You can still keep it open for the warmer nights and close it up...
This may work- I'll have to check again when I get home. Too bad Kuiu just doesn't make a pouch that lays flat when open. I hate destroying two pieces of gear just to get one that works well.
I think I've tried about every conceivable holster option out there, I too like to take it off the pack and put it on my pants belt when around camp or not actively hunting, and I have not found anything better than Ivory. Love it. It took a while to arrive, but it was worth the wait.
I've got a Kodiak 10x14, and I love it. Really, the only time consuming part about putting it up is driving all the stakes- I am usually solo, but it is still only about 15 min total. I use a buddy heater sparingly, like 10 min before bed and just before I get out of bed, and it heats up the...
I am a huge fan of the Marsupial bino pack, I love the way it quietly opens almost flat against the pack and is out of the way, but I'm not a fan of the harness. The Kuiu harness just fits and feels better to me, it doesnt bunch up under my pack and the straps stay flat against my body unlike...
I have a 10x10 and the vestibule also. I used an adjustable painter's pole with the rubber foot from a crutch (to keep it from damaging the canvass) in the center of the vestibule when it rains hard. If it is just light rain, ill often angle the corner away from the door down slightly to let...
I like my Sitka dewpoint for backpack hunts when it might rain for a bit- they are light and packable, but for hunts when I know it's going to rain for days I use the Kuiu Yukon. They seem to stay dryer longer. FWIW, I live in North Idaho and we can get a fair amount of rain.
I may take it out again for bear if I pack in- if so I'll post pics. I just put a small snap w/ 1" shock cord that I had laying around on the 20 degree EE quilt and thread it through the Zen sheet loops. Not perfect and I'm sure someone with a sewing machine can make something that doesn't...
I use an EE quilt along with a thermarest pad, and just picked up a ZenBivy sheet because I disliked sleeping directly on the pad. I made some minor modifications to the sheet and this thing seems to be the best of both worlds- lightweight with the quilt and about 1.5oz for the sheet to hold...
I live in North Idaho and I have both Kuiu and Sitka (I'm a gear freak, and we get a lot of rain here). The Sitka dewpoint is more packable, lighter weight and better for my archery hunts and early Oct hunts. If I'm packing in, I take this. If it is colder or I'm hunting from the truck or...
New without tags, never slept in. Has been kept laid flat on spare bed. Regular size, left zip. Excellent bag with extra foot room, I just decided to go with a quilt. $125 TYD. Venmo, PP F&F, or regular PP and you pay fees.
