No matter what you are calling, the caller needs to be hidden and you need to be able to shoot any approaching animals when they enter the doorway of your stand. Getting the perfect stand set up isn’t always possible though due to terrain/wind/vegetation.
Sometimes animals just lose interest...
I don’t know if you will find many people with the experience you are looking for. Most people on here are using thermals for predator/hog hunting, not finding birds. I would call some of the dealers and have them send you video of various sizes birds and different distances (pretty much every...
I am doing a direct comparison to 55nbts to vmax this year out of my 22-250. Last year I did 55gr seirra spt vs vmax.
53gr vmax out of 223 will produce a lot of runners!
I have tried uninsulated/insulated boots, rubber boots, and boot covers. My only issue with the boot covers is they are loud on tree stand platforms compared to just your normal boot sole on the metal. I don’t use them anymore if it is calm out (rather be cold than get busted). Typically I find...
Still waiting to see the 170” 3.5 year old. SE Nebraska has some great bucks, I have watched a few mature into 180-200”+ deer, but generally they aren’t very big as 3.5 year olds. 140-150” tops with most being in the 120-130” range.
foxpro is posting their Black Friday sale, not sure what lucky duck is doing. Don’t waste your money on one with a crappy remote and buy the best one you can afford. If you want to use it in the wind, higher volume is needed. Th x24 and shockwave are very popular for a reason.
I do exactly what you described. I’m looking for a 4.5+ year old deer, doesn’t matter antler size. For my area though I don’t think I have ever seen a mature deer under 130”. I still check antler size first, but as they get closer I’m paying closer attention to their appearance and what they are...
You can run a hand call and ecaller on the same stand. The purpose of the ecaller is for you to be able to set up in a good shooting position vs maybe having to hide and not get a shot. Having a good door way and using the wind is key to good stands. Setting the ecaller out there a ways makes...
Looks like that remote has a good range! Not sure how windy it gets there, but I would suggest getting a bigger(louder) one if calling in winds over 10mph or expect the animals to be beyond 1000ish yards. The design on that caller looks just like their old entry level one, but they improved the...
For callers remote range is important. I’m not up to date on any new callers, so not sure which model is best bang for your buck. Any foxpro with the tx1000 remote has a good range. Lucky duck callers are popular also. Getting a cheap caller doesn’t work the best unless it is calm and animals...
To stay under 300k rpm in an 8 twist your stuck with 3333fps speed limit. 9 twist is 3750. 10-12 twist you can go over 4k.
For the arc someone on here posted 3300fps for the 62 in a 24” barrel. With the recommended 7 twist from hornady that’s at almost 340k. 8 twist would be ok, unless they...
What speed/barrel twist are you wanting to use?
I have seen over the years people post max rpm’s for various bullets. I think some of the seirras are rated a fuzz higher, but I don’t know that for a fact. You could always reach out to them and see what they suggest.
I’m boring and shoot 10...
With archery you need to have a short term memory, eventually something will go wrong and its horrible feeling. A miss is way better than a bad hit though! Use it to get better! What went wrong and practice how to not let it happen again.
I had to trouble shoot one like this that I bought a few years ago. I bought it used with a vx3 on it and feel bad for the original owner. It was one of their custom guns. The torque specs for the stock was extremely picky. If they weren’t perfect it would shot terribly. Also his scope was in...
Correct, but he is looking for a lighter bullet (assuming good BC since he is looking at this new bullet). That is the only one I am aware of that checks that box and would be good for coyotes.
For fun I looked on hornadys website just now. They have .395 listed for the new 62gr! So really...
