I prefer a mobile base camp and always have the gear to backpack in and stay overnight if that's where the animals are huntable. Best thing about day hunting is that you usually don't have as rough of a pack out once you tag your quarry.
I use a bow hook on my pack belt. Great for hands free glassing. This year I had quick sticks on my bow, so didn’t use the hook as much. Might try not running the hook next time out.
Keep your “Base Camp” mobile! Be able to tear down and move in a couple of hours max so you are hunting where the animals are. Learned this after 10+ years of hunting the same base camp. Have killed 3x more elk by being mobile vice anchored in one camp.
Looking at moving to a more streamlined setup vs my AGC Ravus but don’t see dimensions or weights for the FOB or Pro-M on the FHF website. Haven’t contacted them directly yet since I figured someone here would know the answers!!
