Have 4 full boxes and 1 partial box (236 bullets total) of Barnes .308" 180gr tsx #30353. $140 including shipping to lower 48.
These are just the projectiles for reloading not loaded ammo.
I feel like 2 or 3 years maybe up to 7 should be good from what I heard and saw when I went out. Also depends on the condition of the forest before the burn. I went to one 3 year old burn that you couldn't walk through because it was all 6" diameter logs laying around like pickup sticks. Had to...
Never fully trust Google earth satellite photos. Some may look like good hintsble spots but when you get there it's all 10' spruce too thick to see anything. Satellite images can be several years old. Pick out several "regions" as one may have too much snow and then pick several spots in those...
I occasionally get the opportunity to do ballistics tests on dead cows. I put a .243 partition through a 300# dead Holstein at about 100 yards. I have other rifles I'd rather do it with but the right bullets in a 243 wouldn't stop me.
I got my biggest whitetail with a 243 and 80gr ttsx over varget. My father's I'm loading partitions over h4350. I shot several deer out to 300 yards with both loads from my 243 and none ever needed a second shot.
I full length size mine just to make sure it will chamber properly. Lapua may be good brass but if fedex handled that box anything could have happened. After sizing I usually just lay it all out in a towel, spray with some 90% alcohol quick and then roll it around in the towel.
I watched one for half an hour never seeing cubs. Then made a 1.5 hour hike to get into position and then after about 10 minutes of waiting for a shot I saw a cub mosey on over to her. So at least 3-5 business days just to be safe.
I don't think I had that high a percentage of viable spots. Was a major learning experience driving about 2400 miles to find nothing looks like I thought it did. 🤣
Recently bought a stockys carbon fiber m50 stock for my vanguard in 300wsm. I'm kinda realizing it would be nice to have some grip on the forend and the grip area. They're pretty smooth and might even be slippery when wet. The stock has the strata camo which I really like and was hoping there...
I learned that e scouting using multiple sources still leaves a lot of uncertainty of the ground cover. While onx and Google earth might show what looks like some nice open hillsides they can often be grown over thick with trees.
