Started at 8 walking behind Grampa, learning how to hunt, read sign, the smells, the feel, the sounds of the forest. he taught me the old ways of his people " Menominee Indian". We hunted to provide. I now hunt to honor the elders and the spirit of the hunt....oh and to eat tasty critters.
Been there brother, probably one of the worst days you will have in the field. My grand dad would say there are only 2 types of hunters...those that have wounded an animal and not recovered it and those that will.

Sounds like we are gonna get a bit of a break here next week...snow moving in up north and a cold front moving through. that should get them going a little bit. The best thing about hot and dry is you will always know where they are...just find the water or wallows.

I may or may not have been calling in a giant bull elk for a buddy that we had been after for weeks. finally everything is in our favor,...wind is right...buddy is set up perfect...i'm 40 yards back and have him on a string. Just as the bull starts walking...
