I think the 7wsm is a criminally underrated cartridge, and don’t see the point of a 300wsm in your case. Those two cartridges cover the same base to me, and you have the overall superior one already (IMHO).
I personally would make the jump to 300 PRC for the increased long range performance w/...
I personally wouldn’t let the <2018 aux trans cooler vs 2019 - 2021 puck “cooler” sway your decision.
At this point, if it was a major issue, we’d be seeing a large discrepancy in the number of premature transmission failures in those trucks. And that simply has not been the case...
Cant separate with / pull out to show off:
1. Great Grandpa / Dad's 30-06 Winchest M70 Featherweight
2. Grandfather's Remington Model 721 270
3. My Marlin 1895SDT Trapper (#483 of 501)
Pull out to shoot:
1. Sig Cross 308
2. Best of the West 7PRC in MDT HNT26
3. 10-22 shorty suppressed in SB...
I averaged 2875fps with factory Hornady 175 ELDX out of my 22" Proof, and 2825fps with factory 180 ELDM.
Grabbed a few boxes of Federal 175 ELDX to see if they are getting closer to the claimed (and observed by others) 3000fps, but havent shot them yet.
Got best groups with Hornady 175 ELDX vs...
I have the standard Sig Cross in 308, and a 7PRC in a MDT HNT26. They have pretty different feels to be honest.
Sig Cross being metal and poly has a more solid / compact "feel" than the carbon fiber MDT HNT26. This is just the feel, as the MDT definitely isnt cheap or feel like its fragile or...
Agree with what other are saying as far as big game and small caliber needs to be defined.
As an Alaskan, I would consider "big game" caribou / black bear as the minimum, and deer / sheep / goat as still medium sized game.
Then would consider 6mm and down as small caliber, and 6.5's in the...
Am a factory ammo guy, so 7PRC gets my vote. Extended barrel life is an added benefit as well.
Also dont think the animal will be able to tell the difference at normal hunting ranges (<500yds). Even past that, the 7PRC is still at 1800fps at 900yds and over 1000ft-lbs at 1000yds anyhow. So...
Anyone have any experience with the 168 ELDM Superperformance? My Sig Cross preferred the 178 ELDX's compared to the white box 168 ELDM's, black box 168 AMAX, and 150 SST Superperformacne. But the 168 ELDM Superperformance were on sale at the LGS earlier this week for $24 a box, so bought the...
For a go anywhere, do anything package. Could not be happier with Sig Cross in 308 with Arken EPL4 4-16, and I don't have $1500 into it with buying all new equipment.
I have one in 308. I do not have the hinge slop some people experience, the trigger works, very adjustable, runs like a dream, handy length, lightish, and shoots very accurately when I do my job. For the money, it is a FANTASTIC package.
If I'm grabbing one gun out of the safe to go...
I have one, and thought it performed as advertised on my 7PRC. Short, lightweight, and could shoot it all day without ear pro. Definitely tames and slows the recoil impulse down a good bit.
That said, it now lives on my 6.5CM and I purchased the new Meateater can. I put my 7PRC into a MDT...
308 delivers a considerable amount more energy from 0-200 yards, they are about equal at 300 yards, and 6.5CM walks away from from it as the range increases from there.
Recoil advantage goes to 6.5CM, but 308 is not some super hard hitting magnum anyhow.
6.5CM is inherently more accurate (and...
