Congrats!! Sounds like you've got the right attitude. I've heard, from guys that have done it before, that the locals typically drive all over as mentioned. While it is possible to hunt on foot or stand hunt, I'm sure it totally depends on the unit, and the terrain.
I have never used my binos for stand hunting whitetails. For the most part, I would never want to risk movement grab my binos. That being said, according to this thread, I may have to consider changing my ways.
Hey Mike, I appreciate the reply! I'm open to hunting pretty much anywhere. I will take a look into Utah's general archery deer season. Something like that is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much!
100% opportunity abounds. Higher point units might have better access or trophy antelope, but there are plenty of units that you can find good number of antelope in.
I agree with this. I think allowing younger, non-disabled people to use a crossbow does a disservice to hunting as well as those people. The ability to hunt the best, longest season with a weapon that is relatively easy to sight in and prepare is much easier, and increases success. Not to say...
Hi Everyone, I just received my grad school schedule for the next three years. Lucky enough, a few years out I get a couple weeks off during the end of August & early September (til the 8th). I went Antelope hunting in Wyoming a few years back, and I am more than open to an antelope hunting...
I understand both sides of the coin in this debate. The point to be made is that of the 17,000 deer tested in Wisconsin, a large portion of that 17,000 is coming from CWD hotbeds as those hunters are having their populations affected. People in areas without major CWD issues typically don't test...
Just posting on this thread to keep it active. I went on a DIY Public Land Hog Hunt in Oklahoma. The hunt was successful, and I am willing to help others who would like to give it a try. PM me with questions or your gameplan.
I agree with this. Build up points in Wyoming & MT, maybe CO (if you apply for other animals in CO) to draw a solid tag in an area with good numbers. One thing to consider when planning a trip a few years out is to keep an eye on the antelope numbers in areas you are thinking of hunting. I know...
