Really enjoy your posts, shooting clays with a muzzleloader looks like a lot of fun, I'm going to take some out next time to change things up. Good luck this year!
Thanks, I have to say the sewing got a lot better as the project progressed:D.
As for building another one, I’ve got a couple ideas cooking for bags, but I likely won’t tackle another frame unless I can find a good deal on an industrial sewing machine.
And one last pic of meat hauling mode.
This was a pretty fun way to spend the offseason, gonna tackle a couple more things after the seasons are done this year. But for now I'm just going to enjoy hunting with a new pack.
Good luck everyone
Overall, I’m really pleased with the batwing decision. I have been running it scouting since the latter part of July, and I tested it with some weight a couple weeks ago helping a friend pack some bait into a bear station. It did however, have a couple shortfalls, there are a few items I like...
Getting the frame and harness done was a huge relief. After I ordered all the supplies, I had a bit of a panic moment when I realized I had just spent more on material, HDPE, aluminum and buckles, than on any pack I had previously purchased, and I basically didn’t know if I had the ability to...
Well, it’s finally done, and just in time too. I have a muzzleloader buck hunt in two and a half weeks, then a rifle hunt the end of October, and a cow elk muzzleloader hunt the first part of November. I’ve got some good bucks found in some awesome country, so hopefully between the deer and cow...
It’s so bad I have dreams about dreaming about mule deer! I must confess the only reason I carry a cow call is to settle deer down that I bump that haven’t winded me yet.
As a young dad with three girls all under age five I could really use these, because it looks like for the next twenty plus years all my hunting gear funds have been transferred into the prom dress/college tuition/wedding reception account  . But in all reality I wouldn’t trade any of...
The south end of the Beaver and and the Panguitch lake unit have had good storms in most places. I don’t spend time on the Dutton but I would think it would be fairly similar.
We hunted an area last October that had burned in July, it wasn't in the center of the fire and wasn't solid black, and there were more deer than in previous years. I think near the edges of the burn you could potentially see more deer than usual, especially if there are new aspen shoots.
When...
Just wanted to thank everyone who answered my questions on my last post, and post a couple of pictures of progress so far. Ive got the back panel done and the frame sheet inserted, I also bent the stays since the pictures were taken and inserted them.
Waiting on some durastretch fabric for...
Thanks for the tips, I have pretty much decided to use 1/8" HDPE after watching some of the Kifaru videos comparing the tactical vs hunting frame.
I worked up a cost list over the last couple days for the materials I will be purchasing to build the frame/suspension (with some extra material...
I get it, and if I found a screaming deal on a duplex frame I would have a hard time not just buying one.
However there are a couple things I would like to change, and when I fork out a bit of money for something, its pretty hard for me to make modifications to it.
My sewing machine is a...
