My truck camping water storage bags sprung a leak this weekend. I’m thinking about getting a hard sided container for the added durability. Anyone have a recommendation for what they use? So far I’ve found the common aqua-tainer jugs, but reviews talk about the faucet leaking.
Thanks for the advice. So far I’ve gathered images from June, October and December from multiple years with no luck. I think focusing on flat/gentle creek bottoms and meadow edges is what I’ll have to do. The bright side is if I can find some lush areas I’m sure they’ll hold elk.
I’m escouting a unit in one of the drier states and I’m struggling to find feeding areas. The unit is mostly 8,000 to 11,000 ft, and is fairly open but has timbered slopes and aspen patches. From online photos of the area I can see there are some grassy meadows. However when I look on Google...
I had the same issue. I added a gasket to the tailgate and similar to Bonehammer it cut down the dust by 85%.
If you sleep in your bed you’ll need to leave some of the openings or crack a window. Making it airtight to eliminate dust will also reduce the flow of fresh oxygen.
I know you passed on the opportunity but thought I’d add my two cents, in case someone else is considering it. I’ve lived in SLC over two spans in the past 10 years, for 6 years total.
Pros:
Great airport, you can fly most places direct
Great economy especially with the tech companies moving...
Call the biologist well before the season starts, like January through March. At this time of year I’ve found they are willing to answer more questions.
Briefly tell them your hunting experience, where you live and your goals for the hunt. I’ve had this completely change their advice half way...
I wear my pack while walking the dog daily and then on a hike at least once every two weeks. I’ll start with 40lbs in May and keep adding weight until the season starts.
I find the walking off trail and uphill to be the most beneficial/difficult. It strengthens my feet, ankles, calves and...
I’m not a healthcare professional. But after hearing this, you may be depressed. It can take away your interest and energy in things you enjoy. Getting some help with depression first may give you back the drive and motivation to change your career.
I was in a similar situation 4 years ago. I had a good paying job that was incredibly stable. However I didn’t enjoy it anymore and there weren’t many opportunities to progress in the industry. It wasn’t easy but I put in the work to find another career. Since then I’ve tripled my salary since...
I think a lot great advice has been given. The only thing I would as is to adapt when the hunting isn’t going well. Try a new drainage, new tactic, new mindset. When I’ve been a client it can be frustrating to do the same thing without success for multiple days in a row. A guide who adapts can...
As a slightly more experienced archer I think your selection process was great. Across the reputable brands their isn’t a significant difference in capabilities or quality. Find whichever one works best for you and learn to shoot it well.
In addition to 4 days a week CrossFit, start mixing in 1 day of trail runs or rucking. Follow the snow line up and hopefully be able to easily run 7+ miles at 10,000 feet by September. I did 7 miles at 4,000 feet on Sunday, so only 6,000 more feet to go.
Thanks for the advice! I’m a side sleeper and I’d toss quite a bit so the added comfort is worth the weight to me. Is the Tensor noticeably quieter as well?
Has anyone had any durability issues with the Nemo Insulated Tensor Ultralight pads? I searched the forum but didn’t find anything. I’m trying to decide between it and the Thermarest NeoAir Xlite. Some of the reviews for the Tensor say it’s not very durable.
