    Blocking Access Roads Legal?

Those dudes would definitely not have driven out of there. Maybe not walked. I have no patience for that shit.

    Blocking Access Roads Legal?

Found On Road Dead strikes again! Fair enough. Or, more correctly, unfair enough. But I certainly understand that a**holes only tend to escalate when they've FAFO'd and paid the price.

    Blocking Access Roads Legal?

Not saying I'd drive the last mile and hunt the area behind the blocking truck afterwards... I'd consider my fuel system tag filled and head elsewhere! I don't hunt NM... but appreciate the tip on the "different" folks in north central. In fairness, someone has to be a real douche to incur my...

    Blocking Access Roads Legal?

If I ran into that shit that dude would never block a road again... I always carry more sugar than is needed for what's on the menu.

Narrow road, body and paint damage during Elk hunt

I had my tundra up more than one ATV track. Once it is hopelessly pinstriped (kinda getting there) I’ll paint it in a flat desert camo theme and keep on trucking!

    Dad daughter camping trip

As others have said... spoil them with good food and junk food. No death marches. Let them lead. Let them play with fire. Depending on the weather, bring binos, a rifle scope, or an actual telescope if you have access to one. Letting kids see the moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, or just...

About the most fun you can have with a weapon

Bowfishing carp is fun as hell. Went out on Barr Lake a few years back. I'm no archer, but it was pretty much shooting fish in a barrel. And the meat is really close to (mercury-free) tuna if you can it right.

    Where to set up spike

Stay out of the saddles if you camp up high! These are common travel routes from one basin to another. Agreed on favoring one side (leeward if possible) versus being right on top.

    Rain prep/gear

I hunt rifle seasons in CO so any precip is snow. But between that and wind I always bring rain jacket and pants. I figure one of these years I’ll get rained on and have considered a tarp, but it hasn’t yet made the list.

What type of gear has been the most difficult or frustrating to get dialed in for you?

Try vapor barrier socks to keep the boots dry, and a change of socks to lose the sweat-soaked socks you hiked in on.

    Best Advice for New Dad

Your wife has a huge built-in attachment advantage over you... so elbow your way in there any chance you get: change diapers, get up at night when you would rather stay in bed, give bottles, get puked on, etc. It will pay many dividends in the teen years and beyond.

    Lightweight solar panels?

I do not. I will charge opportunistically if I am glassing, resting, etc. The 3 hours part is based on non-hunting use cases. Newer panels typically come with easy ways of attaching them to a pack brain... but mine does not. One of these years I may construct some kind of harness to let me do that.

    Lightweight solar panels?

Well not sure how to give specs on it... and it's a moot point since they are no longer available and I'm definitely not selling mine! But it easily charges a 30-40% phone to 100% in 3 hours in full sun. It has a nice feature that restarts charging every 5 minutes or so in case a cloud goes...

    Lightweight solar panels?

Fair. Depending on the forecast and how far in we’re hiking, sometimes I leave it. But most of the time I bring it anyway… being crazy and all. Ha!

    Lightweight solar panels?

I have a Suntactics from like 15 years ago that’s as fast as a wall charger in full sun. As near as I can tell they don’t make them anymore. But I’ve had decent luck with a GoalZero Nomad 5. Call me crazy but I like having a way to make power on top of storing it in case things go fully sideways…

    Questions for 2013 Tundra Owners

I have a 2011 CrewMax Tundra (SR5 trim) that I love. One of the biggest positives for me is that it has a CD player, and physical buttons for sound, climate control, etc. The screen BS on newer cars drives me nuts (and I suspect contributes to crashes). It has been very reliable for me... at...
